I was offered two positions actually. But the school I did a demo lesson for was my first choice. The other school had extended an offer but I need to decline their offer. How do I go about writing a letter without burning bridges or offending them?

I think you do it honestly and quickly.

Tell them that you're thrilled with the offer, but between the interview and the offer you already accepted another offer. Wish them a great school year and sign off.

    Is this ok?

I would like to thank you for a wonderful interview. I appreciate your offer for a teaching position at your school. After a great deal of thought I am unable to accept the offer.

It was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for the opportunity to learn more about your school and the position.

I think it's good, although I think I would mention the reason why.

For the position I declined I wrote the following:

Thank you for the offer. Regretfully I received another offer that better fits my needs and the needs of my family. Thank you for the opportunity to meet and speak with you and your colleagues.

    Hope it helps.
