I just thought this would be a cute thread :)

When I returned to work this fall, it was my 2nd year in the building. I had recently ended a "relationship" (and I use that term loosely because looking back on it, it was nothing what a relationship should be) and was talking to the two secretaries about it. One of them had an anecdote that the person you're seeing should "bring the pastries" to your house/family without complaining. I told her that her anecdote helped me realize this previous guy would never bring the pastries, nor would he ever wanted to visit with my family.

Instantly she told me she had THE perfect guy for me. He worked in the district as well. (not for the district, though) She asked if she could send him my number, and I agreed, not thinking she would. Later that day I gave her a doughnut a student had given me, and she ended up sending THAT over to him as well with my number. Four days later, he called and we've been together for almost a year!

I could never have imagined being this happy, but I am. This happened at a time when I was a little discouraged about being back as a sub, but I now know that everything happens for a reason. Had I not taken the sub position for a 2nd year, I would've never met him.

I had been coaching Speech and Debate for 7 years. Peter had judged once or twice for his school, so his face was familiar, but we didn't really know each other.

But I was very friendly with the coach from his school-- his department chair and a member of the religious community. When Brother G's dad died, of course I attended the wake. So did Peter.

He was with a bunch of the English teachers, some of whom also coached Speech and Debate. So we were all chatting. Someone suggested going out for a drink afterwards (it was a Friday night.) It got a bit later, and before we knew it, we were the only 2 going out for a drink. So we did and he asked me out.

It was a couple of years before we told Brother G how we met. And needless to say, he was at our wedding.

We celebrated our 22nd anniversary in July.

The summer after my senior year of HS, I mentioned to a friend that I wanted someone to just hang out with that summer, nothing serious. She took me to a grad party to introduce me to a guy named Tom. I ended up meeting three other guys instead  One of them turned out to be anything but casual and we've been together for a little over four years now. We've even been managing the long distance thing for the last four years! He's wonderful and I absolutely adore his family :)

He was my math tutor. :D

He worked at the high school where I was a home studies student at. Long story short, I got a job there too as an aide and that's how we got to know each other more. :)

Online, but not at a match-making site or anything. Just on a regular instant messenger type thing. Hoosband clicked the "Find a Random Chat Partner" button and found me! We met in person a few months later, moved in together a year after that, and will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary later this week. We've been together for over ten years now but it feels like no time at all. He's my best friend and perfect for me in every way.

Shopping at Best Buy with 2 girlfriends. We (my 2 friends and I) walked in at the same time as my now fiancee and his 2 friends walked in. We ended walking out at the same time as well. Now, 6 years later we are engaged to be married :) Love, love, love him to pieces!

    Match.com

After weeks of browsing, I paid a membership fee so I could talk to him. We chatted a few times and then lost touch with each other. I dated a few other people in the mean time. Then, on a whim one day, I sent him an email. That turned into a phone conversation and that eventually turned into our first date.

We met at a restaurant and as I scanned the bar looking for him I knew the moment we made eye contact that I was going to like him a lot.

And, he had great looking wrists.

He was in LUV by our 3rd date. It took me only a few more dates. The rest is history!

I used to date his best friend. Things weren't working out between us, but things did work out between husband and me. We've been together for 10 years and married for 5. And his best friend was the best man at our wedding, so it all worked out. :)

At a "reverse panty raid" on the men's dorms. That was a very brief encounter (just long enough for him and his frat brothers to get me soaking wet), but we met again a year and a half later at a frat thing. We recognized each other from that crazy night, and I got him back good...I married him! Thirty-six years married, together for thirty-eight.

We met in high school. He was dating my best friend and we all took driver's ed together. We became friends, they eventually broke up, we stayed friends, and about a year later we started dating. That was 9 years ago and we've been married for six. :)

    It was a setup.

It was April, and my BFF had just gotten married in March after meeting her DH in July. Her BIL asked me out, but he wasn't yet divorced, so I turned him down. So he showed up at our church for Friends Day with a friend in tow.

My BFF and her BIL thought I'd be perfect for his friend. He was inexperienced in dating and rather conservative. They thought we'd be a good match.

They made sure we sat near each other in the service and at lunch. DH says that he knew he'd marry me the day we met. I wasn't convinced, as I turned down a date wih him. Finally I agreed to go because BFF asked me to go just once. It went OK, but it wasn't super.

Our first date was in May. Our second date was in June. By our third date, DH was hooked. I came around sometime in October. We got married a year later.

We will be married 11 years in October.

We met working at a camp for gifted teenagers. We still work there together every summer. We didn't start dating right away, though. It took us a few years to both be in a good place to be with each other. We have been together for almost seven years and married for two.

I met my husband in college. We both happened to be in the computer lab one day and it turned out we had mutual friends. We hung out in a group for a while. After college we hung out in another group. We didn't start dating until about 6 years later and got married 2 years after that.

singleparentsmeet.com I had just ended a relationship with a guy and I got tired of guys who couldn't understand what it was like to be a single parent so I decided to give this site a try. The first day that I joined this site, I got a message from my now husband. We exchanged messages through the website and then 2 more weeks through our regular e-mail. When we had our first conversation I felt chills as I felt something I didn't feel with anyone before but I still took my time to get to know him.

We had our first date at a restaurant across the street from my apartment, which he didn't know at that time. I wanted to be really careful. After that we went out on more dates and the rest is history.

We were new to the school/country and my parents hosted a pool party for the International Club of the high school hoping to help us make friends. I met my future husband there, but didn't like him at first. He was going out with another girl, and I later consoled him when she broke up with him for a French exchange student. We became friends, and then boyfriend/girlfriend. Funnily enough, the ex also married the French exchange student. We had 3 boys and they had 3 girls and we are all still married. That was 38 years ago.

I was 18 and the receptionist at a loan company. DH was transferred to our office to be the new boss. The corporate people came in to introduce him to us. I took one look at him and thought "This is the man I will spend the rest of my life with."

It was true. We've been together 32 years.

High school. =) We ran in different social circles, so we weren't particularly close (even though I had a huge crush on him).

I switched schools mid-way through the year, so I didn't have much contact with him until four years later when I friended him on facebook.

He messaged me over a note I'd written about deaf issues, and, since he's so interested in sociology and culture, we started talking... and then he asked me out, and we've been together for fourteen months. =) I think I'll marry him if he asks me!
