How did you meet your spouce or significant other?
I met mine on Match.com and I am so happy with the service. Some think I am weird but he's my life

I met my last 2 BFs while at work (non-teaching).

His department chairman lost his dad. That same department chair coached their school's Speech and Debate team; we were at the same competitions every Saturday for several years, so of course I went too.

It was a Friday night, and I suggested that a bunch of us go out for a drink afterwards. As it turned out,only two of us could go.

And the rest is history. Our 20th anniversary will be in July.

 

We met at the gym. Unfortunately, that was five years ago and probably the last time I've been at the gym.......

 

One of my guy friends was playing in a men's softball league and they couldn't get enough guys for their team (they were terrible). He asked a few of us girls to play and my now husband played against us. Apparently he had seen me before working at the gym, but so many people came in and out there I never saw him. Now we joke around about how 2 girls got him out in a men's league

 

I met mine in a club at a casino - the best part is, neither of us go out very often, let alone clubbing, so people laugh when I tell them we met in a club.

 

We meet one night at a bar, we have been together for a little over a year.:wub:

 

I used match.com for two years, and then on a whim I signed up with yahoo personals. Two days later, my husband contacted me. We chatted for several weeks, and finally met. It was a great date, but we were both really busy and I was also meeting other guys. About a month later, Kerry lost the election and we started chatting again (we both worked on his campaign). We made a second date and it was the best I've ever had (we snuck into a mall and watched them put up the Christmas decorations, AND there were northern lights on the way home). Eight months later, we were engaged.

 

He moved in across the hall from me at the university as a transfer student. The Yankees were in playoffs at that time, so he knocked on my door one night when he heard the sounds of the baseball game. He was expecting to find a group of guys to watch the game with, and was really surprised to find one girl screaming at the TV. We were in Delaware, where there weren't many Yankee fans, so we began to watch all of the playoff games together. Five years later, we still watch every game together, and I'm marrying my college sweetheart this August

 

One of my friends asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I said yes and was thrilled. The wedding party had unequal sides. There were more groomsmen then bridesmaids. So right before the wedding party dance my friend asked me to dance with the best man. The groomsman who had walked with me danced with his wife. So we danced and went for a walk and two years later he asked me to marry him.

 

I bought my car from him...

 

High school sweethearts!! I met my husband in high school...I was 15. We dated for 7 1/2 years before getting married...through the rest of high school, college, his moving to another state for grad school. We've been married 6 years now!

 

I was "dating" (I was only in junior high, so dating wasn't really dating-it meant a ride home) a guy who didn't show up to pick me up one night after a basketball game...I was sitting on the step outside of my high school crying, and he came out of the locker room and asked if he could give me a ride home. That was December 1992-we got married in 1999!

 

I met my b/f at my dad's work. He works for him part time and after months of flirting, we went to a football game together and have been dating ever since!

 

Knew him in high school, he played hockey with my brother and my ex-boyfriend. Now 5 years after high school he's my boyfriend.

(After he pursued and chased me down. He's so proud of that story I think it's cute )

 

We met on a website called singleparentmeet. We talked back and forth for a few weeks and then met in person. We have been together ever since and it will be 5 years in February. :wub:

It was the summer of 1984 and I had recently moved to Panama City, Florida. I was teaching summer school classes at a Lutheran school.

Another teacher and I got to be friends and she invited me to a 4th of July picnic at her apartment complex. After the picnic, we all went to Tyndall Air Force Base to see the fireworks show.

I hit it off with one of the guys in the group.
We got engaged just before Christmas.
We got married on January 19th.
In March, we moved to George Air Force Base.
Our son was born at the Base hospital in December,

In January, we will have been married 24 years! :wub:

 

Also online....He saw me on match.com or americansingles.com or somewhere and looked me up on myspace (I had the same screen name) and found my AIM name and IMed me. We've been together for 3 and a half years now.

 

I met my boyfriend on myspace. Weird I know, but we have been dating for a year and a half.

 

He was in the military. My sister was dating a Marine and asked me to go to the club with her so she could drink and I could drive her home. I took her and we danced once. I was in college, so I wasn't home every weekend. He asked around and got my number. Then he went to Japan for 18 months. He called my house a few times while he was in Japan, but I was never home - I was at school. He got back and went out to the club - I was, once again, babysitting big sis.
We dated for about 6 months and he was discharged and moved home to Illinois. After I graduated, he got a job about 3 hours from me. We had dated for three years and decided to get married. I found a job up where he lived and we have been married for 12 years now.

 

Met my husband through singleparentsmeet.com a little over two years ago. We e-mailed each other back and forth for a couple weeks, then met in person, started dating, 10 months later got engaged, and got married 6 months later.

I bought a new laptop (my first major purchase as an adult) my freshman year of college. I couldn't get my printer and e-mail working so I called someone I worked with who knew a little about computers. He said that he couldn't help but gave me the number of someone else we worked with who was going to college for computers. I called and he told me he would come by the next day to look at it if I agreed to go with him and a group of friends to the movies afterwards. We dated for 3 1/2 years and have been married for 2. I wanted to CRY when that laptop finally bit the dust because it meant so much to me.

 

My husband and I met when we were in college about 12 years ago. We were just friends and then started dating in 2004. We have been married for 2 1/2 years

 

My freshman year of college my friend dragged to me to a fraternity party (they were the only dry house on campus, and since I wasn't into the party/drinking scene I reluctantly decided to go) and I met a very cute sophomore. We developed a friendship and then six months later decided we should start dating. It's been nearly 8 years that we've been together, and we just recently celebrated our second wedding anniversary.

 

I met my hubby freshman year of college. We were friends for a year, then dated for four, and have been married for three and a half.

 

We worked together while in college. When we met, we were both engaged to other people and both engagements broke off for different reasons within a couple of week s of each other. We were both at a bar one night with a group of people from work and my friend left me there and I needed a ride home. My husband brought me home and asked me to go to dinner and a movie the next night. That was October and the next August he asked me to marry him. We were married one year later and 22 years later, we are still together with 3 children.

 

I met my wife at work 26 years ago. She was my secretary........

After browsing for awhile, I finally joined so I could contact a guy whose profile I kept going back to read.

We exchanged a few emails. Then lost contact.

I dated a few other guys, 1 or 2 dates here and there. Those all fizzled.

I wondered what happened to that ONE guy, the one I joined match.com to contact. I sent another message to him after not hearing from him in months, a "how's it going?" message.

That email turned to phone calls, those phone calls turned to HOURS and HOURS of phone calls. FINALLY, we made a date.

We've been married since June.

 

In college. Not all that unique of a situation, aside from me being engaged to someone else at the time, our dorm rooms were in a hotel, and we met in the hottub of the hotel we were living in.

 

My sister set us up on a blind date, 15 years ago. We've been married for 12 years in January

Working at a fireworks stand!

Ok, not completely true...
We both worked for the same person (I was the nanny and he worked in their business) and he always caught my eye when I picked up my paychecks. (I would dress extra nice on payday, trying to get his attention!)

One of our co-workers was running a fireworks stand for 4th of July, and we both were helping out. We started talking for hours and hours and forgetting to close the stand!

That was 5 years ago, and we are getting married on July 2, 2009 (The day before our 6th 'anniversary').

I always tease him..."When we started dating...I saw fireworks!"

It took us a while to let his department chair know exactly how we met.

 

My bf (of 3 years) and I met at a party my sophomore year in college. His fraternity through a party for my sorority. Some of my good sorority sisters and I became good friends with him and the guys he lived with, so we would go over there a lot. He and I became close friends. We both went home for the summer. When I came back for my junior year we started hanging out again and eventually ended up together. We've been living together for a year, and have an 11-month old puppy.

 

I met my husband online as well. The extra added part of that story he is from England. He flew over after a year of talking, we were engaged a year after that and then 2 years later we got married..and have now been married just over a year. time flys!

 

I met my husband on a blind date that was set up by my best friend and her brother-in-law.

 

Match.com when it was free and they were eager to get people to join! We met in 1997,married in 2000 and had our child in 2002! We've been married 8 years. I still can't believe my corny screen name,Coronagirl (after the beer!)

 

I can't believe how many people met their SO on Match.com! My best friend met her bf there and they have been together 5 years.
