Even though the kids were finished May 8th, we didn’t have promotion until today. I’m officially done now.
I'll gladly go on drives...not using my gas for anything else these days & this is still the least amount of times by far I've had to go to the gas station, ha! Yep, I don't blame you. When I still had my dog, I took him on drives too. If I still had my dog, I wouldn't take him to the places where people usually walk their dogs either. I'd want him to get the exercise, but I'd walk him at places where dogs are allowed, but not many are walked at. Then, I'd wipe his paws w/ alcohol wipes & clean his face/body down at the end. I'd also walk him in the dog stroller so he gets different scenery & fresh air too.
I have been cooking more, eating more, sleeping well, and gaining weight. I feel like a bear getting ready for hibernation. I need to get back to activities before nothing fits me.
Still teaching full time, with students sending me messages well into the evening. It's been raining too much to go running, so I've been trying to find other ways to get some kind of a workout. Rockhubby bought a rowing machine that gives a good full-body workout (he originally got it to help with our curling game). Will probably use it tonight.
In our previous life, I could often go for close to a month between fill-ups (I only live 6km from school), but this was crazy! If things keep going the same as they are now, I probably won't need gas until late September.
I got all dressed up (clothes other than yoga pants and a t-shirt) today to go in to school because we were allowed in for 15 minutes to pick up any essential items we might need as we continue teaching remotely until the end of June. I made an outing of it and went to a garden centre to pick up flowers! It's funny what used to be a necessary errand is now an adventure.
I hear you! Today was my last day of online teaching, and we finish up next week with some in-service. I will be doing most of that virtually thanks to my four surgeries earlier this year, but I will need to actually get dressed and go in briefly to clean up my room. And yes, the normal has now become the adventure! I am excited about going to get some mulch tomorrow!!
Work, walks, crafts, catching up on some shows, playing games, talking with friends, talking with distant family, catching up with people I rarely get time to converse with, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and the every week or two week grocery store run.
I keep waiting to get bored enough to start working out again. It hasn't happened yet . I'm pretty good about getting my steps in but that's it. This is the last week I have school stuff, so maybe after that...
Yeah, I get that. I don’t think I got bored as much as I just got tired of being out of shape. Something kicked in and I realized that, if I was ever going to get started again, this was the time. I figured with a flexible schedule and being stuck at home, I really didn’t have a valid excuse. It was tough at first, but I’m two weeks in, and I’ve stuck to my routine. I can’t say that I’ve lost any weight yet, but I am feeling stronger.
I can always find something to do if I want to avoid something (working out, chores, etc. LOL One time someone told me only boring people get bored. After I heard that I don't think I was ever bored again and that was about 20 years ago!!
Well, I must be boring because I find things like chores, working out, etc boring. I do them, but they bore me. To me, doing something does not equate to "not being bored". Miriam-Webster: bored /bôrd/ adjective adjective: bored feeling weary because one is unoccupied or lacks interest in one's current activity. Yep, chores and exercise fall into this category. It is really hard to make it interesting for very long.
I’m with you. I’m an introvert and like doing things alone. I can always find something to do. I’m not a fan of chores or other responsibilities, but they keep my mind and body active. I don’t think I’ve been truly bored since I was a child.
I listen to an audiobook when I do my chores so my mind is kept busy while my hands are doing the dishes or whatever.
That is great! I wish I could do something like that. I would find myself either focusing on what I was cleaning and missing part of the story or focusing on the story and not cleaning (or at least not doing a good job of it).
I used to listen to podcasts while cleaning. I haven’t done that in awhile. Honestly, I’m such an over-thinker, that my own internal thoughts are always keeping me entertained (which is both a good thing and a bad thing...). Sometimes I try listening to something and, several minutes in, realize that I’ve really heard nothing, so I just turn it off and continue in silence. Music works, becaus I don’t really have to pay attention to it.
I said the above back on March 24th. It's now June 3rd & still in addition to the above, I'm planning to: - pamper myself more skincare-wise. I want to try some new masks! - make new dishes I may not have used to make much: Quinoa fried rice, quesadillas - enjoying relaxing - sign up for various webinars I wish I had my dog again!
I am learning how to code, playing video games, as well as creating a YouTube channel for teachers. Don't mind if I insert myself here, but it would be awesome if you guys can check me out on youtube, my channel is "TFT - Teacher for Teachers" and my first video is called "How to make a video lesson for distance learning on iPad in less than 10 minutes" any feedback is much appreciated.
I have no idea how to make a video since I have not been required to do so. Next time I'm surfing YouTube I'll check it out.
I exercise and lift weights. Not only does it help with my anxiety, but I gained about 40 pounds this past year and the only reason my clothes still fit is because I prefer to wear soft, slightly baggy, comfortable clothes (I dislike certain textures and types of clothing). It took a while, and I gained a bunch of the weight back right before Covid closed schools, but I am happy to report I have lost almost half of the weight I gained. I feel stronger and on my way to being better than ever. I have also taken webinars and created tutorial videos for the familes of the ENL students I service. I also started an informal reading group where I meet twice with a small group of students over the internet to practice reading.
What have you been watching on Netflix? I'm finishing up season 2 of The Umbrella Academy and am looking for something new.
I went back to school Monday. It was my first day working all year. We only have like 35 more days left. I am trying to learn kid’s names, and it is extra hard when I can’t see their faces because of masks.
Recently, I have been devoting more and more time to my health. I spend time in the gym doing yoga and stretching. I also go through several online courses on balanced nutrition. I also spend a lot of time in the library because I write research. Edubirdie helps me a lot with this. My research concerns the modernist literature of the early 20th century. I focused on the person of Joyce.
I'm in the UK and we've just returned to classroom teaching after a long three months of home learning. We're still in a national lockdown, but it's ever so slowly lifting! I'm so happy to be back in the classroom, although I didn't miss the commute one bit!
How do I spend my time? Well, I feel like I’ve gotten addicted to the screen lately. After the online classes I continue my life in the digital world. Watching season after season on Netflix, scrolling the hell out of Instagram, ordering stuff online, etc. etc. I even get my groceries delivered nowadays!! I usually use the hodxpress website to order my weekly groceries, they deliver it the very same day if you live in New Jersey so you can guess why it is so tempting... Anyways, this has also made it easier for me to try new things, things I wouldn’t even look at in the supermarket while doing my groceries. So the one thing that actually has worked out for me is trying out new dishes, mostly healthy! I guess that is enough productivity for me to feel like a human...
Oof. I feel this on a spiritual level lol. My phone screen time notifications are all somewhere in the 5+ hours a day, it’s terrible! I have been reading more lately, which has been really good. I’m finishing up a book called “Sacred Rhythms” and another called “Dying of Whiteness” which I highly recommend if anyone’s into politics. I’ve also been able to get into volunteering with my local political group. Nothing’s started yet since it’s not quite campaign season for local elections, but I’ll get to help send postcards and talk to people in my neighborhood so I’m excited about that. I’m not teaching currently so I’ve had tons of free time to learn and build up some healthier routines.
It’s informative and educational on topics that interest me... so agree to disagree I guess. Reading at all is a healthy thing for me since it’s a hobby I enjoy but never have time or energy for.
I like watching some interesting movies and TV shows, they are pretty cool! It is nice that with the latest Kodi update which I found out about from the article on https://www.firesticktricks.com/kodi-update.html I can now watch any movies and TV shows. With the pandemic I can't afford paying for any subscriptions, so it is an awesome opportunity for me...
