My last name is very similar to a hotel chain name. I was thinking of doing a hotel theme for my 4th grade classroom. It kind of lends itself to a travel theme but I am trying to focus more on the hotel aspect. What do you all think? Would it be inappropriate?
These are areas that I have thought of but need lots of help:
    • Check in/Front desk- attendance, daily schedule
    • Manager's office- my desk
    • Bell hop- office runner
    • Sightseeing tours- Social Studies
    • Maid service cards- to remind them to tidy their desks
    • Workout room -Health/P.E.
    • V.I.P. suite - for Star student

Here are a few hotel slogans I want to work a few in...
    • See what difference a stay makes
    • Everything right where you need it
    • feel the hyatt touch
    • the best value under the sun. Day's inn. there you go.
    • Take Me to the Hilton. The places you'd rather be
    • Everything except excess
    • Ramada. A very good place to be.
    • Who's taking care of you?
    • Relax, it's Holiday Inn.
    • We put a smile back on your face.
    • Pleasing people the world over.
    • The best surprise is no surprise.
    • Holiday Inn. The World's Inn Keeper.
    • Your Host from Coast to Coast.
    • The art of meeting your highest expectations.

Any help would be so helpful. Thanks!! Feel free to tell me this is not a good idea.

You've apparently put a lot of thought into this, and it's as cute as can be. I hate to play devil's advocate, but these days I stay a safe distance from anything that might be questionable.

It is very interesting, but I think it is too removed from the 4th grade curriculum.

Thank you both. I appreciate your honesty. My coworkers really liked the idea and were pushing me into it. You can tell from my original post (I think) that I am not sold on it. I was hoping to get big no's or good ideas. So thank you. :)

I don't think it is inappropriate. I just posted a thought in the Fourth Grade Forum. You always have your idea for the detective theme, too, which is really neat. I really like both ideas.

I think you have to do what works best for you. I'm not big on themes anyway as I find them distracting and don't think I would do very well with this one. But, if you are like Ms.Jasztal, and very creative and organized, maybe it would work for you.

I get it. I am going to think so more and sleep on it. Maybe I will get inspired. If not, maybe I will go sans theme. Who knows. Thanks again

    I'm ORGANIZED?!?!??? LOL.

    I'm... getting there.

I don't do an all-out theme- I never have. Sure, I incorporated travel throughout my room, but it isn't everything. My Book Recommendations board is called............ are you ready for this??.... the Book Recommendations board!!!!

Honestly, my first thought when I even read the title was "inappropriate."

This morning I am thinking either a super hero theme or a detective theme. Oh well. Than you everyone for your candor. I'm off on a mini vacation (to visit my grandparents)! :)

I like the idea, if it could be brought down to a more age-appropriate level.

After all, didn't Madeline live in a hotel?

No, it was an orphanage. Also not a great theme.

Madeline lived in a boarding school. She was the only orphan there.

If you are still considering hotel - how about the
    School's Inn? :D

    Thanks -- that's what I was thinking of :)
