We have been battling a very aggressive cancer and it is winning the war. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in October. Since the initial ct scans, it has spread even further. We just got back from a 16 day hospital stay where the goal for most of the stay was to get well enough to get home for hospice care. He had pneumonia, a fluid drain put in his abdomen, fluid drained from his lungs, and an endoscopy where they found that he has a large obstruction at the opening of his stomach. The doctors have told us there is nothing else they can do to try to prolong his life. The chemo has been stopped, and now his care is focusing on comfort. We have hospice nurses continuously with us for the first 72 hours and then will have bi-weekly visits unless others are needed. We've had to go through the scramble to get Do Not Resuscitate orders filed, will changes, and out of hospital dnr orders filed as well. It has been absolutely exhausting. Thankfully, my husband has not had much pain, but he has had lots of shortness of breath which leads me to the purpose of this post. I posted an update in the prayer section of this site, but I felt a need to get more exposure (which would equal more prayers) so I am also posting here. If you believe, please pray that my husband's shortness of breath will ease and that if he is not to be cured of this horrible disease, that his passing be peaceful and pain free. Thank you.
