I just got a phone call from a p. at a district that I applied to last week. He has lost part of my application and was calling to ask if I could resubmit it. He kept me on the phone for a good five minutes, talking about my experience and told me that he really liked my cover letter and wanted to be sure that he gave me a fair chance despite the fact that HR lost some of my papers! This is the highest-paying district in my regional consortium. It is a good 40 min. away which IS NOT what I wanted but let's face it I can't be picky right now. It is funny because I just arrived home from visiting my father at the nursing home. He is not doing well and I was kind of crying all the way home, worried about him and also thinking, well, not gonna get a job either, is anything going to go right anytime soon? Get home, check the listings and see that the posting for this job is still there, bingo, the phone rang!!!! Gotta go get to work resubmitting my stuff!!!!
Wow, that P is amazing for giving you a fair shake and owning up to the district's error. Excellent! Crossing my toes (they're long) so I can continue to type.
I'm hoping good news is on its way! I feel like I'm going through something very similar, no teaching job, and my dad is also not doing well. It's an emotional roller coaster!
Good luck, Rainbowbird! I hope things start looking up for you soon -- on the job front and the family front.
Thanks, everybody. We'll see what happens. Another thing...a friend from my old district (where I applied for the long-term reading sub postion) talked to the P. there today who told her that she was planning to give it to me..said she lost me to "x" district last year and she wasn't going to lose me again! So although I really don't want to sub, at least it would be teaching...
