My husband is a GREAT gift giver. But, I always struggle with ideas for him ... I know he wants a toolbox for the bed of his truck (but I'd need his input on that). I've thought about: - updating the television in the kitchen - a large rolling toolbox for his workshop He has every tech gadget already. When he needs a tool he just buys it . I keep him in trendy clothes for his birthday. What are you giving to your man this year?
I have no idea. I have a hard time buying my husband something, even though he drops hints...I want to get him something he will enjoy. My husband still plays video games lol so normally its at least one game for his PS3 and then maybe clothes. What if you find three choices of the toolbox he wants and have him choose the two he likes the most? Or get him a giftcard to go buy it. Good luck!
I get my husband's flannel lined khakis online at Bass Pro Shop. They have a variety of brands and prices.
My BF loves my gifts. But of course, as the years pass, it becomes more difficult to think of something...usually. Let's see, how about... take him to do whatever he wants the two of you to do a book/DVD he's wanted wallet watch business card holder money clip shoes sunglasses gift card (for his favorite store) tickets to a sporting event
Mine just told me earlier he wants a racheting screwdriver. lol. And I also think I am going to get him kungfu panda. He also desperately needs some clothes. And I always get him a calendar and write silly holidays on it. That has been a tradition since our first Christmas together. We had only been dating a month but we wanted to exchange gifts. He told me he wanted a calendar, which seemed ok for a only been dating a month gift, but I wanted to make it a little more special. Other than that, we are getting a big gift for each other for the house - I think it is going to be a king sized bed. Woot!
I'm stuck too. DH has said he wants new batteries for his rechargeable drills and window guards for his new truck. Just doesn't sound exciting to me, but if that's what he wants.....
In recent years DH and I haven't gotten each other much of anything, but we'll hit the after-holiday sales together. We usually get something for the house--two years ago we updated the family room TV to a flat screen, and last year we upgraded the DVD player to Blu-ray (though we went through three players before we got one that would work for more than a couple of months!)
My DH told me he wants new socks and underwear. I'm tempted to pretend that's all I got him and see how he reacts. He also has a birthday right before Christmas so it's a double whammy. I got him a nice new camera bag for his Nikon (a $100 bag I found on ebay for $60). I also considered getting him a subscription to satellite radio for the car but ultimately decided not to, so I am just going to get him a gift card to Best Buy...kind of impersonal, but I know there's something there he wants and he won't say what it is because he doesn't want me to go out and buy it, so I figure if I get him a GC then he can use it towards whatever it is.
We are saving up all our extra money to purchase a house next year, so we are going low key. Probably just something small like America the History of Us on DVD, something he really wants and would enjoy.
A friend of mine told me that her husband loved it when she had his car detailed as a present. Just an idea...
I am pretty sure I saw this DVD at Walmart today and very reasonably priced. I loved the whole series!
^I've seen it at Target too, I saw parts of it, and liked it. We will probably get my dad a copy for his birthday. I actually have a phobia of Walmart, strange I know, but we did order the Pacific Mini Series from Walmart.com today for DH, he couldn't wait to get it!
No idea. When I asked him today, he said he just wanted to keep the money in the bank account. Typical answer.
since I high-jacked and double posted thought I post on topic new biking jersey music dvd's Dallas Clark jersey framing some of his navy pictures for his office
I need Major to chime in here... Oh, Major! I think you and my hubby are similar...I'm trying to get him a gun cabinet for xmas, but I might have to wait til his birthday (I don't want to get him a cheaper one just because it's christmas-I want to do it right, which might mean spending more money. My sister had one made for her hubby, and it was $3500 ). So what else would a football loving, camping and boating, hunting extraordinaire want as a gift? His stocking gift is always wool socks, new underwear, and a hunting/fishing license...
Welll... now my list expands! I found on NFL.com a Dallas Cowboy's (hubby's team even though they're rancid this year) baby frame! Our son needs that! I want to get hubby this "Willow Tree" figurine of a man holding a baby... But I feel he'll look at it for 45 seconds, smile, and then put it on the end table for me to dust off and find 2 weeks later. Socks/essentials from Old Navy are in order too. We are also each buying 5 gifts for Liam (our son, who is baking still) and will open them up together. So far I have 2 board books of "Good Night Moon" and a Christmas one. Not sure whatelse...!
I bought for our son (who may or may not be here on Christmas - he's due the 20th) the books "On the Day You Were Born" and "On the Night You Were Born", as well as "Little Boys Bible Storybook for Fathers and Son" for both him and DH - figure they can read that one together. Other than the books, I just got him a little Baby Einstein toy at Target. We got so many hand-me-downs from friends that he doesn't need anymore clothes from us (since I'm sure his grandparents and aunts/uncles/friends will be buying him some, too) and any necessities like onesies, blankets, etc, I wanted to have washed ahead of time so we kept it simple. I do admit to getting a little choked up when I wrote "To Daddy" from our son on DH's gifts this year.
One year we got my father (who you could be describing) a lot of the little things that he always needed extras/replacements of--pliers/clippers for in the boat, a fish measurer, fish grabbing gloves, hand warmers, etc. That way he was well stocked with the essentials for a while. We wrapped each one individually, so that made it a lot of fun... I'll try to think of what else we've gotten him recently.
I have only been dating my guy for a month and a half but things are going strong so I have a plan in the back of my head. The man does not have a camera-not even on his phone! He is open to one but he is the type that if you gave him $1000 to spend, you wouldn't see him for a week and when you did, he would have no things and a bunch of stories. He likes to show you his photos from the time of disposable filmn cameras though. lol so, a low end digital camera and maybe something fun like a really cool place to eat a homecooked picnic type thing, like a scenic overlook or something. I'm not sure about the last part.
I'm getting my husband a Carhartt jacket, but he already has a pretty good idea about that. He got a new bow (for hunting) so I think I will get him some arrows for his stocking. Other than that, I'm not sure... maybe a new Under Armor beanie (for hunting), some new clothes/slippers... boring stuff, probably, but everything he wants is way more $$ than we have.
Muggle and Starista-when my first daughter was born, I got her Goodnight Moon, and for the first whole year, every time I read it to her, I made a little mark on the inside front cover, just to see how many times we read it. I can't remember right now (and it's in the file cabinet), but it was a lot! It was kinda cool to see that after a year. Another thing that I always wanted to do, but never really followed through on with any of my 3 kids was to take their picture in the same location with the same color/type of clothes on, then create sort of a flip book of the first year, just to see how they grew. I always made it about 3 months then gave up!
I am getting my husband and 17 year old the same thing...a new cell phone. Plus I am getting my husband a data plan. And that is it...my son might get a pistol if I put in a few more hours of overtime at my second job for competition shooting.
I think I'm getting DH an iPad. He really wants one. It's just soooo expensive. He got me my iPhone a couple of weeks ago and told me that was my Xmas gift. Let's hope he was teasing..... Kim
Sorry to be late replying....... but I've been away playing for a few days..(someone has to do it). Well an active man can always use wool socks and underwear but that can be sort of boring...but I'm sure Santa will bring the Major some..:lol: I've had my gun cabinet for decades now..... so I have no idea what they cost. Take your time on this one. It is important. Most men like to show off their guns...... If your husband keeps a handgun on the night stand as part of the home defense plan then here's a suggestion: a combination light and laser..... A 70+ lumen light will temporarily blind a late night intruder in your home.... and the laser dots dancing on the bad guys chest should intimidate him to the point that he will make fast exit. (If that doesn't work then you take the next step and stop the threat). http://www.surefire.com/WeaponLights
Two years ago, I got him a display stand for the K-Bar knife that he got from the guys in his shop when he got his discharge from the USMC. He had complained that he didn't have a way to display it and it was just stuck in a drawer. Last year, I bought DH a 12 gauge shotgun last year that he had been eyeing for a while. I knew he would just break down and buy it form himself, so I beat him to the punch. We bought him a box of shells and wrapped them and put them under the tree to open. He was a little confused when he opened them and admitted that his first thought was "She doesn't even know what kinds of guns I have." He figured it out when our son drug the box out form under his bed. This year, I am going to get him a game camera to put out by the deer feeding station. We have seen lots of does and fawns, but the bucks are coming around at night. I usually get him some western dvds for his stockings and he loves to get Jelly Bellys and Hot Tamales in his stockings from the kids.
