For any middle school teachers doing History Day...

I am in the process of trying to create a history club with my 8th graders where we would be completing history day projects during our 28 minute START period at the end of the day. I have some stuff to get started, but I was wondering what sort of timeline you set for your students as far as when they should have certain things done. The Maryland History Day competition is usually at the end of April.

Also, if you have any advice on how to really get this off the ground, it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to make this exciting for my students so they can really get into it.

    Thanks!

One thing the history club does in my school is run a Veteran's Day dinner. Anyone who know a Vet is asked to invite him or her. It's a lovely dinner in honor of those who have given so much.
