Got home this morning from running some errands to an email and phone message from the p. that I interviewed with in July. Called him back and asked what was up (I know him). He replied, "Want a job?" It's .5 preK, which is what I wanted in the first place when I started interviewing this season! Just 15 min. from my house. Long story short, the teacher that he hired backed out at the last minute due to personal issues. Of course I replied yes!!!! Went to see him this afternoon and sign my contract. However, due to an error on the super's part, I didn't sign. He had me down as step 6 because he apparently thought that two of my years were subbing, when they weren't. I should be step 8. The p. said he could definitely get that changed. I saw my room and it's gorgeous. Brand new furniture and bright and open. Met a few staff members and turns out I taught one of their sons in second grade my second year of teaching!!!!!! So....I've got a lot to do. Luckily they don't start preK til after Labor Day, but I still have to get ready for preK orientation and parent night!!!! Yikes!!!!! The P. was very nice about reassuring me that he is thrilled to have me aboard. Told me I wasn't really second choice, that it was more like two first choices but one had preK experience and one didn't. Doesn't matter to me. He could have hired another applicant with preK experience but he turned to me instead. I'm good with it. Thanks to all who helped me get through this process and encouraged me not to give up!!!!!!!!
