Anyone else have a reaction to HFCS? Anytime I eat something with HFCS, my bladder fills within minutes, and I end up running to the bathroom to go #1 at least 5-10 times within the following 2-3 hours. Once I discovered that HFCS was the culprit, I determined that I'd cut it out of my diet. But it's in soooo many foods! I find that I have to read every label of every food I buy. It's probably no good for me anyway, so I figure I am doing my body a favor in more than one respect! Anyway, Trader Joe's is my favorite place to buy food now, since most foods there appear to be HFCS-free.
I think I like it too much... what's it in? Sugary stuff, right? Yes, I love sugary foods. Candy, soda, junk in general-- I stay away as much as possible because if I get started, it's hard to cleanse my system again... I will have to do that after Halloween because in the last few days I have eaten entirely too much candy corn and carmel squares. I do shop at TJ's and whole foods though, so I don't eat much of it. When I buy "junky" stuff, like popsicles, it's always the sugar free, so I get the fake sugar instead, which is also bad. I think that they have commercials PROMOTING HFCS is pretty funny though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEbRxTOyGf0 Do be careful at the natural foods stores though-- when it says cane juice or something like that, it's really just sugar.
TJs is the best. They even have ketchup without HFCS. I'm not allergic, but I think it's extremely bad for you. (This doesn't necessarily stop me from consuming it, though.)
HFCS is in almost everything including bread! It is over processed sugar used as a preservative. It is very bad for you. I have found that much of the Archer Farms stuff you can buy at Super Target is either all natural or at least does not have the nasty HFCS. I know for a fact the bread does not, same with their yougart. Check all labels to be safe though.
Yes, but it is real sugar. That is the important distinction. I try to buy foods that have cane sugar rather than HFCS. *** Here is more info about HFCS: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/high-fructose-corn-syrup/AN01588 There is conflicting research about whether or not HFCS is worse for you, but note the bolded part of this quote: Here is an article about the pro-HFCS campaign that takes a look at both sides: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1841910,00.html?imw=Y There is tons of info on google about it.
