    Hi Everyone,

So glad I've found this forum. I'm Moyra, a High School Biology and Chemistry teacher in Scotland. It looks like this forum will be a massive help on any number of fronts!

Having visited the States for 11 of the last 12 summers, my boyfriend (soon to be husband) and I have decided to move to Arizona - hopefully for the start of academic year 2016-17.

I'm going through the various fingerprinting, police checks, qualification matching and testing at the moment with a view to looking for jobs in the Phoenix area at the turn of the year and then jumping through the visa hoops in April 2016.

    Thanks,

    Moyra

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you're doing all the right things to find a career here in the States.

Welcome! Yes you are definitely starting off on the right foot! And I think you should have a pretty easy time landing a job too. From what I've read on the forum, Arizona has a shortage of teachers and chemistry is also very high in demand. Good luck with the moving and certification process!

    Merci j'adore,

We picked Phoenix for the weather and proximity to Vegas and seem to have struck lucky with the annual teacher shortage. I'm looking for the best way to go about finding such opportunities but I'm planning on sending an application package to every high school in the Phoenix area once I'm licensed to make them aware of our plans in the hope that there's a vacancy or retirement that they're working on filling for the start of the next academic year.

    Thanks,

    Moyra
