    Hello all
I have been through many rounds for an AP job. I got the call today that I will be interviewing with the superintendent. I am so nervous because I want this job badly.
    Few questions:
If anyone has experience with this are there any questions the super usually asks tht differed from the previous interview questions?
In your districts, how many people get sent to the super, is it just one person as a formality? or is it 2 or 3? And if so is the decision already made before the candidates enter?

I've never interviewed for a principal's job, but from what I've heard, there are 2-3 finalists that get sent to the super. I can't help you on the questions. Sorry! But I wish you the best of luck!

Usually, it is 2-3, and then the Superintendent makes the final decision from there, or decides to re-advertise. All of the candidates who are sent to the Superintendent have already passed the "qualified" test. Generally, the Superintendent is feeling you out to see if you would be the best fit at the school where he already knows the opening will be (although he usually won't tell you which school it is) and to see if you would be a good "match" with the principal he intends to pair you with. If what you have to offer meshes with what he is looking for, and it is the best fit of all the candidates, then you will be selected.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

I've interviewed with the super for just a teaching job, I think 2x IIRC.

My P did the initial interview & then we both went to the super's office & he asked a few more questions, mainly to see how I fit into the district & if my ideas were in line with the district, what I could bring, etc.

I've has the same experience as well with teaching interviews. Usually the interview with the super is just a formality. However for an AP position I have the hunch that it is much more than a formality and that I wont be the only one interviewing with him.:help:

Just treat it like any other interview...your job is to sell yourself to him/her & convince them that you are the BEST fit for the job. Be prepared to answer typical questions, but also keep a few things ready to show how you will do certain things.

I'd probably brush up on a discipline code if you have one. The schools I've attended the AP handled discipline. My current school the Admin Assistant (basically an AP) handles bus discipline. It might come up if that's the way your school handles it.

Thanks. Im ready for the questions.
I am more nervous that the candidate they want has been chosen already but due to protocol they still have to send 3 people to the super for his opinion.
My dream- I am the only one being sent to him and they just need his approval.

Thanks for all of the "good lucks". I am going to be crushed if I don't get this particular job.

Well the interview with the super istomorrow, so I guess after that. But I kinda think they already know who they are picking. I am sure the principal has given him a list of her 1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd (if there is a 3rd)

I interviewed with the Super today, and I made it to the next (and very last) round. They are sending 2 people in front of the board.
Any clue as to what the board will ask? Same sort of questions?

Also, this may sound silly, but does itmake a difference as to what order they send you. ex: their first choice is sent to the board first or does it not work that way?

No, it doesn't typically have any meaning. And when there are only 2, it really doesn't matter so much...if you are first, you have a chance to "wow!" them and set the bar high for the other candidate. If you go second, you have the chance to give the last, best impression. It is six to one, half dozen to the other. Just go in and do your best! :)
