In our grad class we are to write a two page paper on major trends and reseach findings in math. I am finding the topic is so broad. Can any of you help me narrow it down a bit by telling me what the major trends and research findings in math would be? I have searched the internet, but have not found anything specific to write about.

Try thinking along the lines of either a particular age group or a specific sub-specialty in math. Example: Foundational, introductory algebra/geomety, advance mathematics at the high school level.
