Hi all, I'm filling out an online application. One of the questions is: "Indicate two competencies that qualify you for the position for which you are applying." In your eyes, what does this mean? I was going to put "Passion and dedication" but as I read on I'm feeling that it should be more concrete as in a teaching style/strategy? Also this question: "List what you will contribute to the educational program of the _______________________ school" See I feel that both questions mean the same thing. Any thoughts??? Thanks!!!!
Like you, I'm taking the competencies to mean more of, "What are your instructional strengths." I think that more personality characteristics could be explored in the second question. For the first, you might talk about particular programs you've had success with in the past. Maybe there was an investigative math program that you really made your own or you feel that you have strength implementing a balanced reading program. Just my opinion.
Good work, Rachael. I would have just considered it your strengths...but that site makes it clear that there is an actual list!
