Hi, I'm not quite a teacher yet (still in school). But I do work in an after school care. I have this one tough cookie that has been acting up since day one. I work with another teacher and he listens to her very well, but he does not want to listen to me. He is very disrespectful and rude, he gets an attitude with me, and I don't know how to handle it without yelling or making him go sit down. Any suggestions on how to manage a kid who just doesn't listen?

    Thanks

    Firm boundaries.
Kids naturally test those boundaries to see how far the fence will bend (or topple). Stand firm and take note of how the other teacher handles the behavior. Prevention is most likely the thing you will find the teacher doing if he listens to her well.
