What is pay typically like for teaching in a HeadStart or Public Pre-K? Is it the same as an elementary teacher or lower?

In my state, public pre-k teachers make the same as elementary teachers. Headstart teachers make less

In my area headstart teachers make the same as a daycare teacher. Prek teachers in a public school make less than elementary teachers (to teach prek in a public school you only need a CDA where elementary teachers need a bachelors and must be licensed) but more than a daycare teacher.

I make the same as other teachers on the pay scale (I'm in a public district). I used to teach elementary, so I don't think I would have taken a Pre-K job if it paid less. However, I put up with a LOT of nonsense because I'm teaching early childhood in a district school.

PreK teachers make less than elementary teachers in CA. The educational requirements for the jobs are much different in CA.
