The one teacher is helping to throw a dance for our older students (5th-6th) She asked if I could do something to help decorate the gym. I'm kind of stumped for ideas.

My original thought was to do a watercolor wash in different colors for a sky, then do a sillhoute of some palm trees etc.

    Any other ideas?

What I do when I need something fast is do image searches then cut and paste. By the time I'm done, it's an all new art collage.

Tropical flowers, polynesian symbols/ artwork, volcanoes, waves, and sea life(specifically south pacific area) would all be good search criteria.

You could incorporate an underwater portion, put some large seaweed pieces in, maybe some large fish? You could create some textured sand with sponges.

Sorry. I posted a resource that wasn't nearly as helpful as I thought it might be.

Batik on fabric would be a lot of fun. I remember making batik pillowcases in sixth grade and it was a lot of fun and would be a great decoration.

If only my students could handle a fun project. They couldn't even handle watercolors today. ::shakes head::
