My partner and I are supposed to go to Hawaii during Spring Break. We've had it planned for a few months. I feel guilty talking about vacation considering our current state of affairs. Thoughts?

Several large Hawaii attractions are closing temporarily to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Some major ones are:
    • Pearl Harbor National Memorial – including USS Arizona Memorial
    • Polynesian Cultural Center
    • Hanauma Bay, popular Oahu snorkeling site is closed.
    • Kualoa Ranch
    • Haleakala National Park is open, however sunrise viewing from the summit and all visitor centers are closed.
    • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is open, however Kilauea Visitor Center is closed.
In a press conference on March 15, 2020, the governor of Hawaii, Ige, said, “We do believe that the virus is now spread across the United States,” Ige said. “We again encourage people to cancel non-essential travel.”

But if you go, it will probably be the least crowded you will ever see in Hawaii. Whatever you decide, best wishes!

On the one hand I’d say stay at home. But on the other, I’d say go because I imagine the local economy is going to need the boost.

Don't feel guilty. We're all human. There are lots of things that we all are feeling disappointed about. I whined to my husband last night about having to cancel my birthday dinner with my friend. We'll get over it.

Did you go? I know 4 people who went to Hawaii during Spring Break. I quit going a few yrs ago, but Rain listed some fun places! I tacked a week on to her regular SB w/ personal days. She is the 1 who came back and was forced to self quarantine.

No. We postponed it to June, but even that sounds like a pipe dream.

We have concert tickets in June (James Taylor and Jackson Browne) and it has been postponed.

I grew up hearing James Taylor. My taste in music matches my parents’ because we listened to whatever they listened to. That being said, I’m a huge fan of JT!

It was probably for the best to have cancelled it. It is a bummer though! Hopefully, you can go when this all clears up.

OHHHHHHHHH! I'd be so bummed! Mexico.....I loved that song and remember the other JB for Dr. My Eyes. I liked James Taylor best though.

James Taylor does awesome concerts! We will look forward to a new date.
Now, we just need Billy Joel to still be on in early September! We have had those tickets for months!

I've had a trip to Hawaii in June planned for a few months and I'm also really curious if it's actually going to happen at this point.
