I think you usually have a little while to get your teaching certificate in another state. I was hired in Idaho with my Missouri certificate. If you're in the process of getting it, that's great. Good luck!
Update I got a call from the principal in Arizona early this morning. He said he needed two more references of direct supervisors from me. He then said, "I really liked you and would like to try and get you on board here as soon as possible but I just need to get this paperwork and references officiated." (or something like that) Soooooo...not an official job offer but um, PRETTY CLOSE! So of course I called him right back and gave him two more references. Now I just wait, and thank God, and keep prayin. I am sooooooooo excited right now, and I wanted to share this good news so far with you guys that have been so supportive so far! It's lookin like I may become an "Arizonian" pretty soon!
awwww, I wish I could give you and everyone a big group hug! I know nothing is OFFICIAL yet but I am excited too emmakate218!!!
Again, thanks guys for your support. I agree, hopefully I'll have the good news soon, just gotta wait on references, which we know can sometimes take a day or two. Sooner is always better!
It has been a long journey kcjo13,because a year ago I would never have considered it. But, unfortunately the job market for elementary has been so rough out here in Cali that it really lead me to start looking somewhere else. When I discovered old friends in AZ earlier this year, that's when the ball started rolling! California will always be my home, but over time I've seen it's time to consider moving on. I've probably been thinking actually about relocating for about 3 years now, just more seriously within the last year.
Wow, that sounds so great!~ It was worth it to make that trip! Keep us up to date with all the good news! We are all so happy for you, you worked hard for this and you deserve it!!
Thanks. Not really ready to move, lol. Right now I'm emotionally gearing up to live in another state. Exciting, but I'll admit I've been on a roller coaster the past 24 hrs. Big change, but change is necessary.
That would be great if I heard today. I know from reading other posts on here that sometimes references can take a few days, so I'm trying to give myself some slack.
still waiting Just an update guys..... I did hear from the district yesterday, since they were having a hard time getting a hold of one of my references. I gave them her home #. Then, they said, "Well, the next step after this is for HR to give you a call, and then hopefully you can start soon." Of course, I have not heard a PEEP from the school today. I agree all things seem positive, but this waiting is gettin' to me today. I know they've got two principals, one master teacher and a sales rep to get a hold of. Is it normal for references to take a week? LOL, I guess I'm just anxious. So wanting that "call" from the district office. Anyhoot...wanted to update and I'm still hoping and praying.
What grade level is this new job? I would be happy to help out. Most days being new means learning so much information that all you can do is hope for the best and hang on tight!
SCTeachInTx: It's actually a 4/5 combo class. They have learning communities and I believe I'll be teaching Writing/Language Arts, and maybe some visual arts, Social Studies. I am actually not a brand new teacher, taught for 3 years at the 4th grade level, and about 6 years as a sub with Los Angeles Unified. However, this would be my first attempt at a combo class. When I went on the interview I asked a lot of questions about teacher support and I was impressed with the fact that they do have a lot of new teacher and new hire support. I just wish they'd call me already.
I just heard from one of my references...they called her today...so I'll take that as good news! :thumb:
LOL. I am not brand new either. But I swear learning a whole new school district is kicking my butt. I mean I am keeping my head above water, but it is tough to keep up with all the stuff that is required. It is much different from the district where I coming. The curriculum and expectations are just incredibly rigorous. I am coming from an award winning district, so I am amazed at how many programs they have going on and learning the different technology. It is just a lot of information to take in. Sometimes I feel like I am just staying one step ahead of the next thing that is due. All the best ! I hope that you hear something soon!
I totally hear you SCTeachInTX! This will be very new to me, so I didn't mean to sound like a know_it_all because I'm faaaar from it! It will be a HUGE learning curve to also be in a new town, a new STATE! Still, I'm ready for the challenge.
It's true, a new school, a new district, a new grade level, it's all tough! And waiting is tough, too! I am still waiting to be a permanent staff member. I was told this position is "mine to loose". I am trying to be patient. Meanwhile I am working my b&^% off. Hopefully it will all pay off. I am rooting for you Nasimi! I know it will all work out for you.
My fingers are still crossed for you nasimi77! Hopefully you'll hear something today, before the weekend.
I hope that you hear something today. Are you starting to pack a few things, at least? that will help to get the time moving. We shouldhear good news soon.
HR depts never seem to be in any big hurry! But since they've called your references, I think that official call is not far off.
I know it took a week from the time my principal e-mailed me to tell me I had the job and for HR to call for the official offer... sounds like you got it though!
It's almost 5pm here in Cali, same time in AZ. Looks like I'll be waiting through the weekend. *sigh* I know it does take time for references, just kind was hoping to hear today. Oh well, better brush it off and just enjoy the weekend.
I'm hoping to hear tomorrow as well, but I also realize it depends on how many of my references they have contacted. I only know of one out of the four so we'll see. Thanks to everybody again for the well wishes. I have a lot of wonderful support from family and friends and I remain hopeful for this upcoming week.
