MissWill, it will be a surprise no matter when you choose to get the news. With this, as with every other choice you make over the next 18 years, do as you and your husband think best.
We didn't find out with our first 2, and did with the third. It was fantastic both ways. With my oldest, I KNEW she was a girl from the time I saw 2 pink lines. With my middle child, I KNEW it was a boy from the start (until SHE was born!). With our third, last, son, we had the doc write it down and put in an envelope, then we let the girls open it. They got to choose whether to tell us or not (ok, so I knew they would). Plus, when they squealed "BOY!" from upstairs, the cat was out of the bag!
Irishdave: Hah! I wish I had a teaching job in the first place... Ya, you know...my husband doesn't like surprises and I do. BUT I also like being prepared. It would bother me to not know something like this...that's just my personality. My friend who is also pregnant, 2 weeks further along than I, is not finding out. She says it'll be motivation to push, etc. Well...my reasoning is...I just want to hold my baby in my arms...that's motivation enough for me.
