Hi, I was offered a teaching position on July 2nd. Since then I have met with the principal twice, met the superintendent, gotten my room keys, taken curriculum books home with me, gotten board approval, etc. It's an hour and twenty minutes north of where I live right now (at home - this job is my first teaching job), so my principal even gave me advice for where to live and I have secured an apartment for the fall. I love everyone I've met so far and they have all been very friendly to me. Last Monday, I met with the principal and we went to the district office to meet the superintendent and to get my paperwork (tax forms, insurance forms, etc). My contract was not ready yet. The payroll and benefits specialist told me should would have it ready for me this Monday. I drove up there today to turn in my paperwork and sign my contract and it was still not ready. She said something along the lines of the superintendent hadn't given her my wage sheet yet (the superintendent has, however, emailed me my salary offer and I had to sign it and scan and email it back and I did this about two weeks ago). She said she would get in touch with him and then would mail the contract to me. This is a small district. I plan on e-mailing her next Tuesday if I haven't received a contract in the mail by then. I am just wondering if anything like this has ever happened to anyone else before? It just makes me nervous not having the contract signed. I know since I have my keys and fob, the board has approved it, I've worked in my classroom a bit, and I've turned in my tax and insurance forms, the has to be mine...right? It just makes me anxious not having signed the dotted line yet. This is my dream job and I've already done so much to prepare for it and put a security deposit down on an apartment! Thanks.
