how negative the chatboards on teachers.net can be?
I've never been over there. In what way are they negative?
People in general can be really negative. I'm guilty of it too.
YUP - that's one very good reason why I stay here
You have me intrigued. I'm going to check it out. Ha!
There is a lot of negativity about their own teaching situations... kind of frustrating to read by a new teacher who desperately WANTS one of those positions they so openly complain about!
I guess the best advice to you is to never go back there and instead stick around here! :haha: Besides, I bet we are much cuter and probably smell better. But that's just a guess.
I just clicked on your MySpace link...is that MORRISSEY on your pic spot? He's my old man crush!
Indeed it is! He's my favorite!
I have pictures of him plastered all over the wall behind my desk at school. So far only two of my students correctly identified him, but that's okay. He's really there more for me to swoon over during my prep periods.
He's quiet a charmer, I must say. I especially enjoy the lyric "I like you because you're not right in the head.. and nor am I!" Who wouldn't be taken over by that??
umm.. spell check: quite not quiet! (you get the message...)
yes, we are definitely cuter!
BTW...every now and then, you get somebody with an attitude, who is mad at the world, or just very very stubborn and set in their ways, not very sensitive to others, and decides to pick on you just because you asked a question...
after we get tired of fussing at him/her, the thread will be closed!
no bullying allowed here!
My favorite lines are from Cemetry Gates and they are about plagiarism:
If you must write prose and poems, the words you use should be your own. Don't plagiarize or take on loan. There's always someone somewhere with a big nose who knows and who'll trip you up and laugh when you fall.

I just checked out teachers.net and it is terrible. The message board set up is awful and not easy to read. I'm staying here!
Haven't been on teachers.net, but have visited another site that I will NOT go back to. I pretty much stick to this site because I  all the people on this one.
Cassie, I think we all have those times where negativity gets the better of us.
I didn't realize you had a myspace. I'm going to add you so I can see if I am as cool as you and if I'm not than I can fix my page up more.
Pretty much any place where people are essentially anonymous tends to bring out the worst in some people. I post on five different teacher chat sites using the same on all of them. Each has something different to offer that keeps me going back. Tnet is the only one that doesn't require registration, which can cause issues.
Of course, everyone can have a bad day or be a bit touchy now and then, so there are stinkers on all the boards from time to time. Most places don't allow the problems to become chronic.
Ditto me too Cassie on the myspace add. If you don't mind.

Yeah, I love vBullentin forums.
Teachers.net is the one where I commented on a discussion on evolution teacheing and another post claimed I served the Devil. Don;t go back there much.

Never been there! I like it here tho...so no reason to browse...espeecially if I'm hearing no good reviews!
Oh they are a strange bunch...
Every once in while I get the we miss you messages:lol:
I don't miss them
That was you??? That whole thread was one of the last ones I read there. It was just out of control.
Worst yet, the threads about that thread got as nasty....so that was it for me.
You either get ignored or bullied there....with few notable exceptions like the subject boards.....
Oh I'll have to go read that! Sounds silly to me.
The board are set up terrible there, I couldn't find it!
I just went to do the same thing. It was a little overwhelming to navigate.
I had no clue where to look. I couldn't find a search, nothing was in order, yuck, what a crummy site!
Please stop talking about me

How are you Dave, ...saw you had more earthquakes...
You have not been mean this month! I was referring to the person who said I was the weakest link, and added a nasty graphic from some sick de-motivational site to prove his point. Thank goodness it was ripped out of the thread. Also, to the one who wanted to know why I had so many jobs.
I picked up some books on management. Thank you -- to those of you who really care me. I also got the book called Dinosaur Brains, and appreciate that referral! It is hard to do a job when you don't have training or experience. They should stop hiring me as a teacher when they want me to be a teacher and a supervisor!

I think also teachers.net can be negative because you don't register to post on it like here - so people anyone can get on it whether they are teachers or not and post negative or inflammatory remarks and watch people react to it. There is no accountability like here where you have to register and give some sort of name even if it is a "handle"
Separate names with a comma.
