Italian is not one of my languages, mm, but it looks from here like a really good try!

I'm not that brave: I'm going to settle for a rousing Grazie, paola!

(For those who wonder: grazie is related to the Spanish gracias 'thank you', not to mention the French/English word grace - all of them go back to Latin gratias 'thanks'. Which is a pretty good concept with which to begin the new year.)

    Thanks, dear mmswm...
It's possible to say as you said, but it sounds better, in this , if you say:
"Tanti auguri di Buon Anno anche a te".
At this moment I stop here my explanation.
In the future I'll be able to explain the reason because in this context is better "anche" between "Anno" and "a te"...

I'm really blandish for your italian wishes...

...Probably TeacherGroupe is smiling about my mistakes in this few lines...come in, I'm ready for your red arrows !!! :p

    HUGS TO ALL

My Italiano is a bit rusty. Does anche mean also? (Cosa vuole dire anche?) Sorry if I messed that up!

    Happy New Year everyone!

    Dear TeacherNY,
    You didn't mess that up.

Anche= also, too, as, well, even...

You say, for example, "you too", we say instead "anche tu".

In several occasion we use to put anche before to complement not after.

Better that this way I can't explain...

    Ciao! Buon 2009!

So anche 'also' sounds better after Buon Anno than after a te... paola, I rather think that's going to be hard to explain in any more precise way than "It just sounds better." Native speakers know how they work, and everyone else - including the linguists who specialize in analyzing the language - just has to put up with getting a lot of them wrong.
