Does anyone know where I can get hall passes that aren't to expensive. I've been all over the web. I didn't know they were so expensive until I started looking this past week.

    Thanks :)

You can make your own. I got the wooden die cuts that are already painted from Micheals for about 49 cents. I wrote Hall Pass, Library Pass, Nurse Pass on them with Sharpie and drilled a hole in them for a pretty ribbon. Easy and different--no one else will have yellow and blue fish hall passes.

Exactly what I was going to suggest Go 4th! You could also use something from the house! (I actually had to stop myself suggesting a toilet brush -UNUSED of course!).

Check the Dollar Tree and the Dollar Spot at Target. They usually carry plastic hall passes.

I love the ones from Dollar Tree!!! I buy a couple of hall passes and use sharpies to write Nurse or Office on them. :)

I always buy them at Dollar Tree. They have cute designs and I just add my name with a sharpie. They always last all year too :2up: I also Lysol them each day ;)

I have wooden letters (O for office, B for bathroom, T for teacher errand). I painted them in various bright colors and then painted the words in black. They cost less than a dollar each to make.

Or just make a cute die cut at the school, write hall pass, nurse, library, etc on them and laminate. Hole punch and use ribbon.

Although I do think the toilet brush would work if they get out of hand with the bathroom thing!

I heard a story (maybe it was on here, I don't know) where a teacher used a toiled seat (new, of course) as a hall pass. I suppose it was to curtail any abuse of bathroom privledges.

You can get them from the dollar tree. Or make a door hanger into a hall pass. Or get them from abcteach.com

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I must say the funniest is the toilet seat. It makes me want to laugh and I can see the kids faces if I handed them that, total shock for them!

My cooperating teacher used small stuffed animals.
The 1st grade teacher for whom I subbed used notes.
I will probably do the Michaels thing!

I'd suggest checking with your school first, though, before buying or spending time making any. I made some really cute ones last year, only to find out that they are supplied by the school. Each teacher must have the exact same - except they have our names on them. They're even something we had to turn in prior to checking out of school this spring! We had library passes, nurse passes, bathroom passes, and a phone pass. If students were in the hall with anything other than the one given to us, they were in trouble!

Last year, I used Index cards with my name on them and where the restroom, office, etc. They were really easy to replace when they got misplaced or ruined. A few of the teachers at my school also used rulers as hall passes too. :)

    CD's

Last year I used old CD's. I put a piece of yarn through each one and wrote the destination (boys, girls, office, etc.) on each one, then decorated them with stickers. The kids LOVED them! They were really cute and didn't cost me much at all! :p

I know the school doesn't supply them. I work there last year as a temp so I used that teachers stuff. This year I got a perm position as a math teacher and my own room, so I know there are things I will have to get fro myself. I think tomorrow I will hit Target, the Dollar store and Michaels.

Everyone has given me such great ideas. Thanks to ALL!!
