I have to have my foiled, highlighted, and cut about every 6 weeks and it costs $110.00. I think that's kinda outrageous, but for me worth it since I don't really know how much gray I have. That's not counting sprays, shampoos, and other stuff. How much do you spend?
When I had longer hair I would wait months between cuts, and when I cut my hair super short, I was so annoyed with the growing out process that I would only go to cheap places to get cuts. Now, however, I really like my hair and I am going every 6 weeks. I think my cuts are $45 plus the tip. I bought some VERY expensive air products which better last me FOR-EV-ER as they they were over $30 a bottle. But I was sort of suckered into buying those. Usually I get stuff at the drug store, but I thought my hair was falling out (it's not, I had a freak out) so I got all these products to add volume and thicken your hair.
For the "full deal"--cut, highlights and colour, I spent $105. plus tip just before Christmas. I need a cut about every 6 weeks or so, but can go about 3 months between colour/highlights. For years I coloured at home and got cheap cuts, but I wasn't always happy with the results. I really like the girl who is doing my hair now so I'll likely keep spending.
Since hairstylists have charged me as much as $180 to do my hair, I only go to the salon every 4-6 mos to have a color touch-up, trim, curl or flat iron where it takes about 4 hrs. It's because my hair is down to my butt. When they see me coming, they figure they can charge this astronomical amount! Otherwise, on a Sat or Sun, I wash my hair once a wk, then flat iron it & it's good all week. I may curl it just to look different. It doesn't take 4 hrs at home, but I don't count the time it takes to air dry. In Feb, I'm probably going to cut my hair to right below my chin for the 2nd time in my life.
I think women spend too much time trying to get rid of their gray. Gray (well, it's white hairs really) can be rather attractive. Oh, and I spent $18 on my last haircut (NYC is more expensive). I got a shampoo out of it too, though (special offer for first-time customers).
I keep it real simple - a trim job every 8 weeks or so at the Haircuttery. Comes to maybe $18 with tip, I usually skip the blow dry process. I don't color my hair so no cost for that. As far as shampoo, Suave works just fine for me. I'm a no fuss kind of gal in the hair department!
When I still lived in Michigan, I would go to the Aveda training school. I loved it, and the prices were awesome. I can't remember how much I paid, but it was around $50 for a full head of highlights and a style. Then I moved out to CA, and thought I would find a training school out here. I went to the Paul Mitchell school, and they ruined-RUINED-my hair. Two inches of bleach at my roots, and everything else dark brown. And then they chopped off half of my hair, and left the rest because they were closing for lunch. They still wanted me to pay. I had to pay close to $400 to get it fixed at a really nice salon in the city. After that, I only go to nice salons out here. I pay about $180 for a full head of highlights, which comes out to about $225 after tip. I don't get it cut very often, so I don't know about that. I got it done in Michigan when I went home for Christmas, and it was cheap again. I thought maybe I should just spend my money on a plane ticket and get it done in Michigan....
zip/zilch- for color and cut every month i love my momma its also nice because I like to experiment with my hair. I usually go blonde all summer and spring then go a little darker in the fall and winter. I have been dark black, REALLY blonde (almost white), dark brown, and now I am sandy blonde.
I'm fortunate to have a friend who does hair. I'll go to her house, or she'll come to my apt. She has everything she needs. I usually pay $25 or $30 for wash/cut/blow dry (although I don't need to blow dried most of the time). I'll pay $50 for color/highlights along with the cut. She's pocketing all of the money, so she's okay w/ what I pay.
My mom use to do my perms. That was awesome and so relaxing. We almost did one over break, but I didn't want to break my hair off. I love curly hair.
For a cut, highlights etc.. It is around 100. I can't remember. I go every 3 months for it. I go every 6 -8 weeks for a haircut - and blowout, usually around 50.
I had to laugh when I saw this. My aunt lives in another state and always has my cousin (a stylist at a salon) do her hair. I ask her do you get your hair done at home or just when you're here!!! Do we have the best stylist at the best prices!?LOL!!! I'm lucky I've had someone in my family do mine since I was little!!! I've paid for just the perm stuff. My cousin (I mentioned above) lives close so I go to her house. I don't get mine cut too often, once in awhile trimmed, but I'm again trying to grow it out to donate!!! I give her $10 for my lil ones. She never asks for money, so I just leave it on her counter.
it depends. when i wear my hair in it's natural curly state, i'd say i spend about $60 every 3 - 4 months because the products i use last forever (and they smell like cake which is pretty cool!) When i straighten my hair, i spend about $10 - 15 bucks every other month because the straigtening spray i use is like $6 and the shampoo and conditioner is like $10 bucks altogether and lasts forever because when my hair is straight i wash like once every week or two (i dont have oily hair so it doesn't get all gross if i don't wash it a lot) i dye my own hair at home every 2 - 3 months and that's $10 if i do highlights and $20 if i do the whole head occasioanlly i have to make big buys like a hot curler, straightening iron/comb, hair clips or a new dryer, but once i buy them they last a good 2 - 3 years.
Which ones do you use that they smell like cake? I do almost nothing with my hair. I color it at home which I find I am having to do more often because I have gray hair coming in the hair around my face! I am only 28! But I dye my hair every couple of months, and I buy it when the dye is on sale. I have a ton of hair, it isn't super long but I just have A LOT so I have to buy 2 boxes. I get my hair cut maybe every 3-4 months but I do it at Supercuts or somewhere cheap like that so it is only about $20 including the tip. I use leavin in conditioner that my mom bought at a salon for me, it is pretty expensive ($40) but it lasts a long time. Other than that, my hair is very low maintenence. I wish I could do more with it but I am lacking that girly gene that enables me to do anything more with my hair than put it in a ponytail.
Whoops! I meant to write the part about cake next to the sentence that talks about the hair products I use when I wear my hair in it's naturally, curly state. Those products are made by the "Kinky Curly" company and the product that smells like cake is called, "Curly Custard." YUM! I know this is totally disgusting, but when I first purchased it, I tasted a little bit on my finger because it smells exactly like vanilla cake. (didn't taste like it though) :lol: Anyhoo, be glad you have the face for a ponytail! My face is round and even when I was skinnier, it's always been kinda fat, so a ponytail is extremely unflattering, which sucks because I think ponytails, especially high ones, are so girly and cute. Plus, I've got a sensitive scalp, so unless I wear it really really loose, I get headaches. And loose ponytails look messy and then hair starts falling in my face...ugh! Guess I don't have the "cute, ponytail gene".
We have a few hair academy's around here that are always in need of hair models. Since I know one of the managers she usually hooks me up. I only have to pay a product charge of $5, then I usually give a tip of about $20. I generally get a cut, style, highlights, and lowlights. About a $150-$200 job for only $25!!!
Do you think that it's worth it to pay a little more for your hair products? Normally I don't, until I discovered this one line of products for people with naturally curly hair (it's like $26 for the gel, $22 for the hair lotion and I forget how much the spray is) but they work wonders. With all other curly hair products, my hair would be all hard and gross and tangled. OH! And it was always really annoying because when my hair was wet, it would hang below my shoulders,but once it dried, the products made my curls shrink and my hair would look chin length. UGH!
Normally for a color and cut, it costs me about $130 w/ tip. I just got my hair cut, and my DD's trimmed, and it got $27.00 w/ tip.I'm not 100% happy with the way it turned out. The swing bob isn't as extreme as I'd like it.
I don't get my hair cut very often; maybe every six months or so and it usually costs me about $35. My neighbor does hair, so I just go to her house and get it done. It usually takes about half an hour and I get it thinned out and cut.
Does your momma do your hair? Do you use over the counter hair products? I did mine one time with over the counter stuff and it turned my hair orange and I ended up spending a lot more having it fixed.
$18.00 for a haircut here too, plus tip. Do you have any gray hair yet? I always said I never would but when they started popping up, I thought, well... I just wasn't ready to be gray at 45. I have a friend who went with the natural gray and she looks sooooo old.
I pay $26 plus tip for a haircut. I go about every 4 months. I love my hairdresser. I went to the most amazing guy for 2 years, and then he moved. It took me a while to find someone I really love again, but I have. It's hard to pick a new hairdresser - you really need to trust them.
yes both my mother and sister are cosmotologists actually my mom teaches cosmotology! no i have never used over the counter stuff - they buy from a beauty supply store.
Where I go, a cut is 14.00, and if the girl blow dries and styles it, that is extra. My color price, I believe, is 36.00. I never get just those services, I get waxed as well, or sometimes Jeannie is getting cut, too.

I'm jealous of all of you who don't HAVE to wash your hair all the time. I wash mine each and every day, and sometimes if I am going out late, I was it AGAIN before going out. It will look terrible and greasy otherwise. I would NEVER go a day w/o showering!
Mine looks fine for a few days, but the thought just bothers me. When I had my surgery in September, I went a week before I washed my hair-- I couldn't raise my arms over my head. I can't tell you how much it bothered me!!!
I have rather short and spiky hair. Because it is so short, and thick! i have to get it cut every three weeks or so. i don't dye it, nor do i highlight or perm it. So.. it costs about thirty dollars for the cut. The styling putty i use costs about 12 dollars, but it lasts for several months. I use a leave in conditioner, otherwise, teh top where it's not all spiky will get really frizzy and dry. So.. i usually spend about forty dollars a month on everything including shampoo and conditioner.
I hate spending money on my hair. I pay $35 to get my hair cut, every 5-6 months. I buy inexpensive shampoos/conditioners, usually Herbal Essence. I probably spend $7 every other month to buy shamp/cond. So in a year I spend a little over $100 on my hair! I figure when I get older and need to start dying my hair...that's fine...I'll wait until then to spend that money and keep up with that maintenance!
Nothing besides shampoo and conditioner at Wal-Mart. Out of no where I bought a Wen product from QVC before Christmas, but I returned it. I just can't rationalize spending that on hair, especially when I wasn't impressed with the product's performance. My husband trims my hair every now and again...he's pretty bad at it, but I don't think it really matters. Not that I don't value pretty hair, but...well, it's just not my thing.
I just got mine done Friday. I paid $40 for the cut, plus a $10 tip (she is a former students and an AMAZING stylist, so I hook her up.) The salon I go to is great - they give me coupons all the time. My last haircut was free. I don't do color - i have amazing natural highlights, not to brag. I buy somewhat pricey shampoo, conditioner, and hair gloss, but that's all I use and it lasts pretty long.
We bought clippers, so now I cut my hubby's hair whenever it starts to look "long"!!! I think we spent $40 on the clipper & it was about 5-12 dollars every time depending on the special they would run. So we figure we are now about even with buying the clippers. I think I've given him 5 haircuts maybe 6!!
