Here I go. I am starting into my THIRD interview season. This one MUST produce a job...or I fear I will be leaving education in order to provide myself with an actual living. (Subbing off and on - then supplimenting it with a part-time grocery job and diving into my savings isn't cutting it.) I was called into an interview for a 5th grade position. Though i would have LOVED the job... I don't think I'll get it. I have come a long way - but still struggle with interviewing...thus the lack of a job. i KNOW the answers, but I stumble. *** the difference? This year,..i am going to MAKE it!Ok...time to reflect. I have written down the questions that i was asked and have started to work on those answers. I have been called often to schools in this district. though each school asks differenct questions...the concerns of the district are the same. thus many of the questions total up to the same thoughts. I will be working on these answers and those for the questions in this forum...and be better prepared this year. This may be the first interview of the season - but I doubt it will be the last. The difference is... this year I WILL make it!
That's the spirit you have to have in order to have a chance. Look at dozens and dozens of interview questions and become an expert at answering all of them. Make your answers come from the heart, and do not allow yourself to sound like you're reading straight from a text book. Good luck, your positive attitude will help you through this job season!
If you keep thinking like that, you will make it happen. Atleast you are learning from each interview, so it serves some purpose in that sense.
McKenna...there is no doubt in my mind that THIS IS YOUR YEAR...you are #1 priority!! You WILL make it happen, even if that means that you need to apply to diff states!
You will get a job THIS YEAR! We both will!!! Congrats on your first interview! I am applying all over town now.
Sounds good McKenna. Let us know how the interview season goes. I am on the interview team at my school this year. We are looking for teachers that are knowledgeable about Reader's and Writer's workshop, have a CAN DO-WILL DO attitude (as my principal puts it), and someone that is able to get along with team mates and foster positive relationships within the school community. All the best!
Good luck!!! I love your pep talk to self - I might print it and tape it next to my mirror!!!! With that wonderful positive attitude, how could they pass you up?!!
