I was visiting a friend last evening and she had the show on in which they discussed their time with Good Housekeeping. Could Kate have complained any more about the experience? She only considers the magazine an OK one. If it is just OK, why do it. I am sure there are plenty of other families who would have enjoyed the experience. I feel the Good Housekeeping people went out of their way to please Kate, even after telling them what they could and could not do.

My BF and I just watched an episode of this because I had heard some good things, and also they live pretty close to him. I thought it was terrible. She just complained the whole time. The kids were cute, but I could not take her incessant complaining. I don't blame her, I would probably be the same way if I had 8 kids. But I definitely can't get into that show.

    :agreed:
Kate is always like that - at the Crayola factory, at the cupcake bakery, anywhere that the kids might get dirty. And, Jon - he needs to grow a pair!

Raising children is NOT a spectator sport. Jon and Kate should each get a job and stop relying on their kids to support them. :2cents:

Sorry but this is going to come out sounding rude! Do you even watch the show??! If you did you would know that Jon is an I T analist and I hear that they make very good. And Kate was A nurse (my moms a nurse they make good). She is now a stay at home mom. If I had 8 kids I would stay at home too because daycare is WAY to expensive especially for 8 kids. Can you imagine?! I do not have kids so dreaming up daycare costs is crazy. I do have friends with children and its pricey. I think they would do just as well for themselves if they were given no help. Hey if someone told you all you had to do was be on tv and you go a free trip to ----location wouldn't you go? I would go in a min. without thinking unless work or college was a problem preventing it!

I'm sorry, it seems to me that Mandagao06 doesn't seem to watch the show much. Kate hasn't worked in a very long time and Jon makes good but not enough for them to do all that they do. The kids make all the money, I am sure pretty soon Jon will quit his job and leave it to the kids. Jon and Kate were in People Magazine this week and they said that Cara and Mady go to a small private school and that both girls are having a hard time with everything. I don't know but if my kids were having a hard time in 2nd grade because of something stupid like that, I would get rid of it. Those kids are going to be so screwed up.
This show disgusts me now, I think that the kids are beyond adorable but I can't stand the parents, especially Kate..ugh

Mandagap06 -- Daycare is fairly "inexpensive" in my area - We spend $450 a month. So it would easily be $3000/month for them to put even just the little ones in daycare.

Jon should make quite a bit of money at his job, and they get a lot of donations even before the show. I don't think I would allow that kind of intrusion in my home, but I guess to each his own. I do enjoy watching the little ones. :)

Kate CAN NOT WORK. She can not afford daycare cost for her kids if she did work. I know they do not make good enough to do to the things that they do. They thankfully acept the gifts(trips). Would you not accept the trips if given for free? Come on you know you would! Does it matter where the girls go to school? They could be getting a sclorship(I know privite schools give them out too). You do not know! I do not see anything that would tell me that these kids are going to be messed up. If you do not like Jon and Kate plus 8 Do not watch it! Stop badmouthing a nice family. So Kate can be hard to take at times. You would be hard to take at times if you have 8 or more kids! come on! I hope this poor family is not listening to all this bad mouthing that some people are doing to their family! It's sad!

I think you are right on that. So, neither parent has a real job - other than doing a television show that exploits their children.

Yes, I used to watch this show. But, there was one program in particular that was absolutely repulsive. Jon and Kate were sitting and answering questions for the whole show. It really showed just what a b--ch Kate is - and what a wimp Jon is. So, that was the last time I watched the show.

I don't for a minute believe that this is a nice family. Kate has alienated almost all of her own family, including relatives that used to be on the show. The same is true of many former family friends.

Right now, it's all about the $$$ for these parents.

Gosh, it has been so long since I heard it, but I think he makes a brief comment of one of the shows. He and Kate oversee production of their show and have speaking engements, too. I believe he is portrayed as working out of the home now.

My sister lives in Lancaster, PA and has seen the family twice at outings, at the amusement park and at the Strousburg train. I will only say that my sister said everyone could not take their eyes off of the family because of the yelling and screaming that Kate and Jon were doing in public.

I must be wrong--or could he have quit since the intro was filmed? I will try to find out. Sorry if my info is wrong--but I was almost sure he quit to stay home and help since they have adequate income from the show and talk appearances. Does he work from home as an IT analyst?

I believe he switched companies. The company he now works for lets him work from home MOST of the time. His old job had him gone 12 or so hours a day and some weekends. Now, if he goes into work, it is only a few hours a day.
That is what I gather from watching, anyway :)

They do a good job of keeping that part of their life private. Probably so he can do his job and to protect the company for which he works.

Neither parent is now working because they have a "family business." This has been said in several magazine articles and at several speaking engagements as well as the fact that the twins have been unhappy. I have stopped watching the show. Between the lawsuits that were filed by Kate for more free governmental help and the numerous people that have been close to them coming out with the true Kate, my time is better spent watching other shows.

He went to work for Bob Carson--Kate's friend Beth's husband. He is no longer employed at all. They are supposed to be moving out of Pennsylvania soon.

Now I am not dening that this info is true, but you have no proof. How do you know Jon has no job! If he is TRULLY working for Beth's husband than that is a job. Now I know for a fact that they are moving. I have proof of that. On the summer show(J and K plus 8 go to the beach on family trip) they stopped many times along the way to look at properties in the south. Kate said she is tired of all the cold weather. You can tell she is tired of cold because she wears shorts as often as possible. The went to the beach and looked from properties down there. They did not say what beach they stayed at. We can guess they went somewhere in Florida or Gulf Shores which is in Alabama or maybe they went to California but I dout that.

On one of the show's about the kid's days out, Jon said that he had gone to work for Beth's husband. He then said on a later show that he was not working at all at the time and the show was their job. I have seen every episode at least 10 times because I used to watch it everytime it is on TLC. Apparently it has also been said in several of the speaking engagements that they have done over the past few months but since I have not heard them speak, then I do not know if this is true or not. I do not know these people personally so the show is where I get information. I do know that I stopped watching when school started back up because I got tired of listening to Kate whine.

On one of their shows, they go looking at property (to build a home on); so, I'm sure we're going to get more info as time goes on...wonder where they'll move? :)

They just had another episode of the show where the answered fan questions. One question was what is in store as far as moving goes?(not exactly the same question but it was about the future move) Kate answered saying" I do not know you will just have to watch, big things are comming". That makes me think that moving is on a future episode! I too can not wait to see where they move! It would be cool if they moved near me.

I'm wondering if the older daughters are having a hard time in school because they are ON TV and their classmates probably know this. Who knows if they try to get special attention or special privileges at school. Maybe the kids at school are just jealous? I have heard many times that celebrity kids can't go to regular school because they have a hard time with their peers making things difficult for them. I wonder if they ever considered a private tutor for them? :2cents:

I've had both child performers and children of celebrities in my classroom. In at least elementary school, the kids weren't given a hard time- most kids thought it was cool but it's never become distracting.

I've only seen the show once or twice.

But putting your kids on TV simply because of the circumstances of their birth has a scary similarity to the Dionne Quintiplets. It can't possibly be healthy

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionne_quintuplets

OK, I know that wikipedia isn't a "real" source, but figured that some people here might not ever have heard of the Dionnes.

I agree totally. They are not even that special because there are other sextuplets and while it is nice to see what is going on in their lives from time to time, no child should be followed with cameras as much as these children seem to be.

Exactly. Children need the privacy that a home is supposed to provide for them.

Occasionally, I see a program about Abby and Brittany, the Minnesota conjoined twins.

"They have so far had no desire to make themselves available for any medical studies. They intend to make a rather limited number of media appearances in the future, primarily just to appease the world’s curiosity and to reduce the number of people who might otherwise be taken aback by their novel body configuration.

They would prefer not to be stared at or photographed by strangers while going about their private lives. They expect to date, get married and have children."

There is a BIG difference in the parenting that is going on with Abby and Brittany - and what Jon and Kate Gosslin do!

I watch all of the episodes and Jon works part time from home now. Whether they have good intentions or not, they are making A LOT of money off their kids. They just wrote a book and they do speaking engagments where they charge money. I think its pretty easy to tell that the show is their own "business" now. I can't say I really blame them, and I enjoy watching the show. Well, one thing that makes me mad is Kate does not let the kids do art projects, because she doesnt want stains to get on their clothes. I'm sure their new house is going to be huge and expensive...more than they could afford on Jon's salary. There is no way they would be living the lifestyle they live without the show.

Personally, if you don't like it, don't watch it!
I like them...I think they are real and tell/say/do it like it is! Nothing is hidden or fake on camera with them! It is the closest thing by far to reality tv.....if they are mad, they yell , if they are happy, they laugh, if they are sad, they cry etc...
