Got a JOB Offer! MEEEEEE!!!!!! I still have hoops to jump through...I have a preliminary offer at a charter school in Atlanta...out of my field...As a Media Specialist. I have to enroll in a program, which I've already applied for, and begin my classes. I also have to have a background check and fingerprints done...oh and references checked (why they are doing this after they've made an offer is beyond me). After my fingerprints have passed they'll give me a formal offer and I start on Monday...yep Monday. They will fly me to Michagan for August 1-3 for training...open house on Aug 4 and school starts on Aug 8. I have to move and all between now and...well whenever. Plus I have kids to enroll in school. My head is spinning! I'll let you all know when I get the formal offer!
Sounds great. Where are you having to move from? Sounds like you'll be very busy between now and when school starts.
Oops! Disregard that PM l8dybug...I read your post again & saw that just the training is in Michigan and the job is in Atlanta.
WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!! I literally squealed out loud for you!! I want to hear all about where it is....we must meet up sometime for lunch or dinner once you get settled. I am so excited for you.
Thanks, Ya'll! I still can't believe it. I got all of my things done except the background check and fingerprinting done but hopefully tomorrow I can get those things knocked out. My son is pretty upset with the move (he's a sr in high school) but I really feel I don't have a choice since I cannot find employment of any kind here. He is giving me a really hard time. My daughter, who's b-day is tomorrow, is being very good about it. I understand how my son feels but it is his behavior that is shocking to me because normally he rolls with the punches. My big concern is finding a place to live and getting them registered for school because it starts Aug.3.
Would you consider letting your son stay behind for the year with relatives or friends? I'm not sure I could, but I know that others have done so under similar circumstances.
Congrats! Is Alice's idea doable? I lived for a year with my aunt and uncle when I was in high school. I'm so excited for you
Thanks again Everyone! I am stil waiting on the official offer...the hold up is the admission process at the school I enrolled in for the master's program to be a media specialist. Ugghhh! Maybe today I'll know something. In the meantime, I've found a place to live but again I'm waiting on the official offer to proceed with that. I'm back in TN packing and gathering up documents and things I'll need to enroll kids in school. Thank you, Alice and Don, but there is no way I can leave him here. Unfortunately we just moved here two years ago. I really don't know anyone here that I would trust enough to care for him. I have no family here. That is another reason why I'd like to move. I don't have a support system here. I have been through a lot this past year and I realize how important it is to have family and friends to be there for you...I was alone through the worst time in my life. Upside is, I have found a great school for both kids to go to. My son is involved in JRTOC and has a leadership position here in TN (this is a great honor for him and a major sticking point with the move). Well, the school I found is just starting up their JROTC program this year so I'm thinking with a reference maybe they'll appoint him to his leadership role! I'm calling the school today to talk to the instructor. I will update as soon as I have official word...Oh yeah...I have an interview lined up for Wed for another position in GA. I'll cancel obviously once the official offer comes in!
SR year is a tough move. I know you have some guilt over that. Hope that you are able to reassure him about the programs/ROTC where you will be moving. Do you have family in the area where you are going or will this be brand new for you and the kids again? I love Georgia. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all goes the way it is planned and that you finally find a place to call home.
Update! Got the official offer and accepted! I will be teaching!!! SCT, I am moving back to GA where we moved away from 6 yrs ago. So I have family and friends there!! I called the JRTOC instructor today who sounded delighted to have a cadet with his leadership. I told my son and I hope this makes things easier on him.
I can't wait for you to get settled! So excited for you. what are you doing about the other interview with CCA?
