Hello - I am a first year teacher at a small catholic school. I am the 7th grade teacher there. Well, they have a Guardian Angel Program where the 7th graders are matched up with 1st graders. They are their "Guardian Angels" for the year. They decorate their lockers for their birthdays, sit with them during Mass, etc. I need your help in thinking of other ways I can include 1st graders. Just to let you know, I teach religion, math, science, and art to my students. The other junior high teachers do language arts, geography, and reading. Thanks!
As a catholic myself I am trying to think of ways that they could do something else. If the 1st graders have 1st communion, the 7th graders could write a congratulations card or go and talk to them about their experience. I'm sure that doing an art project together would be fun too.
