One of my 8th graders fell asleep today and another student drew on him pointed eyebrows and other facial improvements.
It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud. I couldn't believe it the kids are drawing plans (drafting) so it is quite.
I play soft music for a quieting effect it was only about 20 min into the class he sits at one of my front tables.
I started at the back of the room checking students' progress.

I am sooooo glad I teach Pre-K. We don't feel in a hurry for the year to end because the worst thing these kids do would be running indoors! We laugh about the things they do all day long. THey are so cute and funny. Today one little girl said she and her mom can't find a date so mom can't get married!

I'm grouchy. We are all tired and just want to go home for the summer. The kids are trying, but I know I'm not always the most pleasant individual. I tend to be even more strict-think comando-when I get grouchy.

Well, I'm going to get the tomato in the face, because I'm mostly in good spirits. However, I do become annoyed at a few teachers who ONLY complain all the time and never smile. I try to steer clear from negative people because negativity breeds negativity.

Same thing is happening to us! But, you can't blame them. A lot of teachers shut down at this point and the kids go wild. I feel a little lazy, but I still volunteered to come in on Saturday with the seniors who need credit appeal. Every little bit counts!

THAT IS SOOOOO TRUE!!! There seems to be a lot of just useless whining going on at this point. The kids make me laugh when everyone else is just griping, so I love them! Surround yourself with happiness!:p :D

Think and act positive...as la profesora said... Surround yourself with happiness!! ( You'll live longer!)

When you feel that negative thought coming...quickly erase it with something happy that has happened in your life.

    :D
I would like to see a floating last day.
The ending day must be within the last 10 days of school.
Kids are required to work every day.
A magic number (over 85) is picked out of a hat.
At the exact second when there is that percent of students finished with required work, school is ENDED!
Just **poof** call the busses send the kids home!.

this is a non political musing :)
Maybe we could end the war the same way?

I look forward to the end of this Maternity leave substitution I'm doing!:tired:
I have been teaching 3 grade 9 classes and one grade 8 for the last 3 months. Before I taught grade 10 and 11 of Math Applied to Social Sciences.
Anyway, the 9th graders will have a National Math exam in the beginning of June, but that doesn't seem to worry them or make them work more, quite the opposite... the Spring fever hit them hard: they don't shut up!!!
I want this school year to end!
Oh, and I hit my car last Monday, which will cost me one month of paycheck, if not more...

Do you think I have enough reasons to be grouchy about?

My students have taken to lying about their behavior when I am out of the room. I have been very confused about why they are doing this because they are doing things in front of my parapro and then denying that they did it.

I had one student yell on the school bus when I got off to direct another class to the bus while we were waiting to return from a fieldtrip. There were at least 15 students, my parapro and another teacher on the bus and he went on to tell me that he did not scream. I wrote his mother a note about this and the funny part is he came to school the next day and told me that "we" had a problem and when I asked what the problem was, he went on to tell me he missed a favorite cartoon on t.v. the night before. It took me a minute to figure out why "we" had a problem about his missing a cartoon and then I realized that he was punished for lying and could not watch tv last night. I couldn't help but laugh and tell him that "he" had a problem because he did not make the right choice yesterday and lied instead of telling the truth. He gave me one of his "ohhhh" looks and started his morning work.

...and one of my classes, in particular, is totally disrespectful...makes me question why I chose to become a teacher.

On a brighter note, I do have nice students too...and they outnumber the brat ones.

I'm telling my kids that the 8th grade teachers sent a list of things that they have to know before they can start 8th grade, and the only time I have to teach that stuff is after testing since I'm required to stick to the 7th grade curriculum until them.

    They're buying it!

I'm really bummed about my Pre-K graduation plans. A couple of families are on vacation during our practice week(next week,) one family can't/won't be bringing their daughter to the ceremony, one of the boys is just plain silly and causes trouble, and the rest barely move their lips when they are supposed to be singing. I feel like skipping the whole thing, but the director always wants a graduation. THis year will be the worst one I'm afraid.
