I found out today that they are going to do a baby shower for my boss at the work Christmas party this week. I need some good ideas what to get a first time Grandma I can get or do within a few days.

    Help!

Diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, blankets, bath stuff, towels. Those are all things we keep at my mother-in-law's house. It is so helpful not to have to lug all that stuff over there! We are there several times a week. She had a grandma shower for our first child, (first grandchild as well) and many of her coworkers went in together and got her a nice pack 'n play.

Things that the parents won't have to lug back and forth. Maybe you and some of your coworkers could go in together and buy a Pack and Play? It's a smaller version of a playpen and can collapse really easy. It came in really handy at my parents' house.

This is the one we got:

Sorry, just saw the above post about the Pack and Play. Oh, well. Kept mine up because of the link. :)

Since when do grandparents get baby showers? The whole concept is getting out of control.

Yeah, I tend to agree. We've had them for each grandma at my school. We bought the Pack and Play that stays at my mom and dad's house with Walmart gift cards we got at our baby shower.

ETA: Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks the whole concept is a little out there.

A grandma baby shower? I just don't think I could participate in that.

But, my go to when in doubt is always a pack of diapers.

Thank you for your input, everyone. I know, it feels kind of strange, but there is nothing I can do about it. She is my boss and I already said I was going to the Christmas party, so....

I was thinking about one of those electronic picture frames? I have a couple of days to decide what I am willing to spend.

Hubby got me a frame...cool at first, but it just got put up somewhere....
I say go for a little bit older stuff...like toys for teething, sippy cups. They use those before you know it...

How about a breast pump? That way she can really help out the new mom.

    Just kidding.

There are some cute bibs and onesies that have grandma sayings on them. I've gotten my nephews some that say they get their awesomeness from their aunt.

Agreed...especially considering this is for the OP's BOSS who probably makes more money than any of her employees who are 'showering' her. I'd get something small and inexpensive. How about a Christmas ornament?

I have never heard of a Grandma baby shower. That even sounds weird to me. :crosseyed

I agree with those people who have said to buy items that the new parents don't have to pack back and forth. I'd say that would be the most practical thing to do!

Anytime there's a shower at work I always get some books for the baby but wouldn't get a "big" gift like if I was going to the actual shower.

I embroidery, so I always have extra blankets in my sewing kit that I put the baby's name and birthday on. Parents love them. I pick the blankets on clearance. So for less than $10 I have a great gift.

I might get a special book...or maybe something in the school colors?

I have been to only one grandma shower. We bought things for the grandma, not the baby.
