Beyonce... not impressed. I figured they would have to bleep Jay Z out but Beyonce? Really? Lorde... looked like a spaz. Daft Punk... the robot heads LOL. No comment. Hunter Hayes... sounded scared.
Poor Hunter...he always sounds scared. I guess it was last year at some point, or maybe even 2012, when I wanted to save him from a major performance. It was awful and I really felt for him.
A friend of mine's band won! Congratulations to Vampire Weekend! Lorde dances crazy. She's a hard seventeen... she looks like she's in her thirties!
I thought Beyoncé was vulgar. Hey, when I typed Beyoncé it automatically came up with an accent ague on the e. I enjoyed Hunter's performance. Maybe I haven't heard him enough to know he sounded scared. I had to switch off at 9 to watch Downton Abbey. More my speed.
I don't think any of my picks won! I had picked Macklemore to win album of the year, just because that album had so many good singles. I did want "Get Lucky" to win record of the year. I liked "Just Give Me a Reason" as song of the year. I liked "Brave" for pop vocal performance. I liked "Blurred Lines" for pop group vocal. I had never heard of Hunter Hayes before, and I wasn't terribly impressed. My favorite performances were: Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk, Pharell, and Stevie Wonder, Sarah Bareilles and Carole King, Macklemore etc., Willie Nelson et. al., Paul and Ringo, and Kacey Musgraves, whom I had never heard of before. I loved watching Yoko Ono dance in the audience, and Sean just looking at her like sons look at moms who are a little embarrassing, but also really cool. I did not enjoy watching Taylor Swift dancing in the audience, and thought she made a fool of herself.
Daisy... I told hubby I can't believe they let this be opening number at 8pm. Taylor looks like she's trying too hard when she's out there dancing in front row & everyone else is sitting.
I didn't watch the Grammy's but I did just youtube Beyonce's performance. She's amazing. Just watched Pink, too. She's so awesome!
I did not like Pink's performance this time because she was clearly not singing live. It's the Grammys. You sing live at the Grammys. I was not impressed by Beyonce, either. The whole tone of the Grammys this year was so dark and dull. I like it better when it's more of a celebration of different music.
Beyonce was not singing live and she did nothing compared to Pink. Although I am pretty sure Pink was singing live. She has done this routine before and one of the things that was so amazing was that she was singing live during the whole thing
Her mouth didn't match the words. If she was singing live, it was to a prerecorded vocal track, which is common while dancing.
I didn't catch all of the Grammy's. I did like Taylor's performance behind the piano. She just always so much emotion in her songs. Love Vampire Weekend!! The brother of one of my friend's boyfriend won a Grammy for a collobration, but I couldn't tell you the song. The Grammy's just weren't with it this year in my opinion.
I don't watch music award shows usually. From the comments that are being given I probably wouldn't have enjoyed this one. I've never been impressed by Beyonce. I will have to find Hunter's performance online since I do like him. I love most of Taylor's songs but never her performances. I guess I'd just rather hear these people on the radio than see them on tv or stage.
I love Pink. Although I do think one should sing live at such shows. Loved Taylor's song. She's come a looong way vocally. Poor Hunter...I'm kind of surprised he keeps being invited to perform at major awards. I just always feel bad for him. But it was a touching song. I thought the marriages were really cool. And I like Queen Latifah, too. Really loved seeing Metallica perform. I can't believe there was so much criticism over the piano. I liked it! Hmmm...what else?
I only watched it to see my favorite favorite favorite band Chicago! They performed with Robin Thicke (I had to google him to see that he was the guy Miley was twerking with). Their first album was in the Grammy hall of fame, which is why they were there. I've been listening since I was 10 and have all their albums and have seen them countless times. I was never into their power ballads of the 80's but I loved the early jazzy rock style.
The "music" world has passed me by ....... Didn't watch all of the Grammys but what I did see I didn't understand .. Why so much vulgarity?? And who were the "Robots" .... is this really a musical group??
I'm barely thirty and aspects of the show made me feel incredibly old and out of touch. I honestly just find it rude to not show your face or speak when being given an award.
I assume that's just what makes them stand out, kind of like Lady Gaga and her out there wardrobe. I know they are quite popular. That being said, I feel the same way JustMe.
Guess my favorites (Genre) are Soul (BB King, Buddy Guy, etc), some classical, Outlaw Country (Willie N, Waylon, Hank Williams Jr), Oldies, 1970 Soul music, some Rock (but not "hard" rock), Swing ..... and some others too...... I know that "dates" me ..... but that's OK ... As for the Grammy show ...... honestly I didn't watch much of it. What I did see seemed phony to me.....
The Robots were Daft Punk-they are an anonymous duo. It's the only way they'll show up at award ceremonies. It's part of their thing-I think they want it to be about the music, not them.
Hunter Hayes has been performing since he was a very young kid. He used to play every year at our homecoming festival.
Weren't people predicting robot rock stars in the future? You just have to watch Futurama or the Jetsons. ;P
Hmmm...wearing ridiculous costumes tends to take away from the music. But it is rather interesting if not admirable that the choose to be anonymous in a celebrity-driven society.
I missed all but the last thirty seconds of her number so I just watched it after reading your comment. I agree...didn't like it. I don't really have opinions about her or her music generally speaking (other than I think she's pretty ), but certainly didn't like that performance.
