I was wondering what exactly to do in this cituation. I will be graduating in Arizona and will be doing my student teaching in Arizona. But after I graduate I am planning on moving to Colorado. My question is do I do anything in Arizona beyond graduating? I will ask my school but I was just looking for general information. Has anyone done this before? I know it will be more difficult because I wont even have student teaching experience in the new state but we have to move.

    Thank you = )

I graduated in NY and then moved to CO right away. What you have to do to teach here, at least in the public schools, is take the Praxis test. You also have to fill out paperwork to get a CO teaching license. Charter schools have more leeway in their requirements but many do want you to be certified. It costs about $100 for the test and $100 for the cert. Jobs are scarce, though, be forewarned! Good luck!

I still have about 1.5 years to go to finish up and then move over there. We might wait a bit after I graduate too. So hopefully it'll be better in a few years. Thanks for your help!= )

I'm in CO and I've only heard of students taking The Praxis... but maybe I just haven't been as aware as I thought.

It may use PLACE, but it takes PRAXIS too...I talked to the CDOE when I got here and that's what they told me to take. It works for most states, with a few exceptions. =)
If you go to ets dot org, it's easy to navigate and gives you all the info by state.
