Hi I am a new 8th grade life science teacher. This is my first year teaching and I am having trouble figuring out my grading policy. I am open to any suggestions, opinions or examples you might have. Here's the policy that was reccomended to me.
    25%-Tests/Quizzes
    25%-Classwork/Labs
    20%-Homework
    15%-Binder Organization and Binder Checks
    15%-Science Log/Journal

What about participation points? Just a thought to keep kids active in the classroom? Anyone else?
