Do you all record your grades on the computer-or old fashioned in a grade book. Up until a few days ago, I had been doing it the old-fashioned way which is a pain. I just bought a new laptop, so now I have been recording them online using my computer. I feel so relieved as it is much easier to record grades now, and have the computer automatically calculate grades.

I was just curious to see how you all record your grades, and which do you think is better?

I love my electronic gradebook! It does all the calculating for me AND prints out into an easy spreadsheet if I need to see it in print. With 156 students, this is a must.

Use the computer. Just be sure to make a copy of the file or print out hardcopies each time you enter a big set of grades.

I used both. My primary gradebook was the electronic version, but, because of the population I taught, I liked having access to a student's grades at all times. If a parents stopped me in line at Wal-Mart, I liked being able to just open my gradebook and tell her how her child was doing. The vast majority of my parent confrences happened this way. If I taught a different population, I might not have kept a paper gradebook at all.

Our district just bought a new grading/attendance program for this year which is excellent. You can pick categories, determine the weight of each assignment, give extra credit, show how many times a kid redoes an assignment and all kinds of things. I'm so glad that the program does it all for me!

I put them in my gradebook(paper!!) then enter them into the computer. I like having the hard copy on hand.

Could anybody be kind enough to tell me what gradebook software they use? I am at a small private school-so the school as a whole doesn't grade electronically, individual teachers grade however they see fit. Right now I am using an online gradebook, but I would like to find a software program that I could use without having to be connected to the internet. TIA

I know that before our school went to an internet-based system, they used a software program called "Gradekeeper" that was for individual computers.

It's mandatory that everyone use Grade Quick software. Parents can view thier child's grades on-line. I don't keep a hard copy except when I print out a report.

    I love my paper gradebook.

I can do grades in study hall, at home, watching TV, anywhere.

I started using engrade.com this year. It's a free program that you can access online. I like it.

Last year I used something called Gradebook Pro and it was alright. This year my district uses gradespeed. I don't know if it's a program you can buy for your school or if it was developed for us.

We use STI on our computers for our gradebook and attendance. We are *required* to have a paper gradebook too however. I find this redundant.

I use a paper gradebook to enter grades initially, then I transfer them into the computer ASAP.

When I taught fourth grade last year, I used an electronic gradebook. I used Gradekeeper. I loved it! Weekly, I printed off the grades so I would have a back-up, just in case of computer malfunction. I would be happy to answer any questions if needed.

    Our district uses Skyward.
It is not elementary friendly but I still lkie it better than paper.

We are required to have a hard copy on paper.
I enter the grades on-line as well.
