I am attempting to create open ended maths questions for grade 5's using a restaurant menu. The menu is from a canteen, where the minimum price is $2.5 and max is $8. The question is:

You and your family are planning on going to the Waterfront Kitchen for lunch. Create a menu planner for you and each family member that:
    1. Does not exceed $30
    2. Each family member orders at least 1 item
    3. Uses as much of your budget as possible, so your change (if there is any) is lower than the cheapest item.

Is the third requirement too hard for this age level? Could this be worded better?

*This question is for an assignment I am in my last year of study

    Welcome to A to Z, msbee123.

Forum policy strongly discourages multiple threads on the same topic by the same member at the same time; the site owner's rationale is that the discussion is better if it's kept in one place rather than scattered. Your other thread is at http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/showthread.php?t=176204, and there's already a reply there, so let's shift the conversation thitherward and close this thread.
