Hey there, I have a center-crazy principal, and my personal beliefs don't hold so much for centers for upper elementary. Could you please provide me with examples of what you do, how you assess, how you manage etc. 'Tis observation season already!
    Thank you so much!

My former P was center crazy, too, and I always struggled. Management was difficult- 5th graders are just too social to stay on task. Basically, I am not a lot of help there.

As far as activities, FCRR (Florida Center for Reading Research) is free. I used a lot of them. For math, our series came with centers. I used them, but they seemed to always be too hard to too easy. In my last year or two in 5th, I used Teacher Pay Teachers. My team would each buy and create some centers. We stored them in large envelopes. We would then rotate them to each other every week or so.
