Long story short, I applied for a job in another district and I got it! This will be the first time I've ever left a job in a school district, so I assume I'll need to write a formal letter of resignation, right? Does anyone have any suggestions for how to write this?

Keep it simple. Thank you for the opportunity, but I am resign my position effective at the end if the 2013-2014 school year. I would wait to turn it in until you have signed your contract for the new district.

Have you signed your new contract yet? Do not resign before you have signed a written contract for your new job... lots of people have resigned and then had a new job offer redacted...

Congratulations on the new job :)
