Today I was offered a job in my first choice district! I am so thrilled. CA's job market has been rough. When I was first job searching in 2012 this district and most others like it were busy laying off hundreds of people. After 5 years in charter schools I'm finally getting into a public district! I am so excited. This district has a great reputation in my area, it's in the area I want to live in, it's a $10k raise from what I make now (and an even bigger raise over time), and I'll be teaching the population I have a heart for - students from low income homes and English learners. School and grade level are TBD, but I'm still so thrilled. Looking forward to a fresh start next year. Just wanted to share because I'm not going super public with this with real life acquaintances yet and I just had to get it out somewhere! Also, maybe this will give others some hope! The job market really has loosened up from what it was 5 years ago, in CA, anyway.
