It's Friday afternoon which is good because I'll be driving about 2 hours to get there.

The principal said there's a writing part that will take about 30 minutes. A couple days ago I applied to another district that had me do an online interview where I answered 6 essay questions. Will this be similar?

Then the actual interview with her [the principal] and an instructional....someone. Would this be like someone that will be on my future team? Or someone from the Board?

Edit: Clearly I rewrote this several times before posting it. Fixed the pronouns.

In my district you would have a choice among 2 or 3 writing prompts.

The instructional----? may be an instructional coach or curriculum director. In either case, I'd expect that you would be working with this person in some way. Usually not someone from the school board- I've never heard of a board member in on the interviewing process.

Since you are driving 2 hours away, take some extra resume packets with you and drop them off at other schools in that area- you never know who may just have an opening!!

    Good luck.

Yay! I had 2 writing prompts and I filled out the front and back of the paper for both questions. One was about professional development and the other was about all the aspects of creating a concert/ program. Another interviewee had a question about different types of assessments. She was unsure about common assessments that was mentioned in the question. :D

I've never had writing prompts at an interview, but I would think that it may be very similar to essay questions on applications. Good luck!

Now call every other school in that county. Let them know you're driving up (or down :) ) for an interview, and you wonder if they could possibly schedule one for you, since you'll be in the neighborhood anyway. Other people have had great success in the past doing this.

I did apply to 2 other schools in the county. They were the only ones hiring. It's also only temporary contracts (all 3 schools). They're not sure if the positions will be needed next year. Even if I don't get the position (or if I decided against it), it's still good interview practice!

I might email them because with work (aka chauffeuring a 6 and 8 year old around town all day) I barely have time for the phone. Safe?

Don't worry about who is hiring; contact everyone.

They have no idea who might quit tomorrow. And you have no idea who may have quit last night.

So email them with a slightly changed cover letter, and include that resume.
