I was offered a position this morning and I accepted. I will be a 2nd grade teacher in September. To those who answered my "silly shoe" ? I wore closed toe shoes to the interview and I got the job, so I would like to thank all of you who gave me great advice, and to those who answered my "I had an interview "? I did send a thank you e- mail so that was also good advice. I know this may be tough for some people to read as you might still be looking for a job. I just want to let you all know that I was right there with you when I had no job so I know how it feels to be turned down a couple of times. I guess my advice to you all is keep pushing forward, don't give up and I know you guys will be more calls for interviews. There is all of August left and thats crunch time for schools, they are looking to hire people fast. Good luck to every one I will Keep my fingers crossed for you all. :)

    congrats.

For the 1st time I am actually wishing I lived up north and had "all of August left". Schools here start next Tuesday (Aug 1), so time is running out...oh well, there is always next year.

I have a funny feeling we will be seeing more posts like this soon. To those in the South, I didn't realize school started this early for you. This is just a suggestion, but maybe if you sub, or become an assistant, you could get your foot in the door and then next year you might be as good as in. This will be my third year after graduating that I finally got a job. The first year I was a long term sub and last year I was an aide in special ed. Even though it took me a long time to find my job. I believe those experiences helped me land the position. I't just sooooooo competitive at least around here. When a position opens up it's like 200 people apply so you have to try to stand out.:)

Actually today just happens to be my 3 year anniversary with my hubby, so it is a double good day and we already had plans to go into the city to see a show and go to dinner. I guess now we have 2 reasons to celebrate. It was funny because I was so nervous about finding out about the job today that I forgot about our anniversary.
Bad wife huh, my husband had to remind me. How's that for a little role reversal

What are you seeing? I would LOVE to see Wicked, but right now Broadway is a bit out of our price range. (OK, I'll be honest: the movies are a bit out of our price range until I go back to work in the fall!)

    Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations Genchi918! How exciting to finally know what grade level you will be teaching. I taught 2nd grade this past year. It's a wonderful age to teach independence. I had a bunch of interviews this past week and last and now am waiting as patiently as I can to find out if I'll get hired by any of these districts. I hope I'll hear good news sometime soon. I can't take this waiting game. Good luck again!

I'm back from seeing Jersey Boys and it was great. I just love broadway/theater. It still feels weird that I don't have to look for employment anymore. What will I do for the rest of the summer LOL. I am located in Union county. I wish I could tell you that we have a lot of jobs around here, but there are none. It seems like all there is ti choose from is special-ed and administrative positions. I 'm actually looking into getting certified to teach special-ed. It's a really good thing to have and it's something to fall back on

Oh, once you get your materials you'll find plenty to do! Procedures, theme, academics...

For now, just bask in that "I HAVE A JOB" feeling!!
