Hello! I am looking for some easy good morning/bye songs to use on a daily basis in my classroom. My second grade co-op teacher had one that she sang every afternoon and the kids just loved it! (Too bad I can't remember it... =) If anyone has any that they would be willing to share, I would surely appreciate it! Thanks!
what we sing... Hi there, In our class we sing the same songs each day so the kids get to learn the words and join in singing in no time. In the morning we sing The More We Get Together: (we also do sign language to the words as we sing) The more we get together, together, together the more we get together the happier we'll be. Because my friends are your friends and your friends are my friends. The more we get together the happier we'll be. After this verse I point to the first child sitting at circle time and say "there's __________" and he/she will sing his name " and there's ___________" continue until all names are said. Our goodbye song is to the tune of Coming 'Round the Mountain It's time to say goodbye to all our friends it's time to say goodbye to all our friends It's time to say goodbye, to give a wave and wink your eye. It's time to say goodbye to all our friends. I then sing each child's name - it's time to say goodbye to ______and _________. Etc. Hope these are helpful! I have found the kids love singing and it's great if you have a routine of the same songs for them to learn. Karen
I don't usually do singing at my circle time--we do music and movement before circle time-- but I used to do this one good morning to you good morning to you It's so good to see____ good morning to you this year I think I may do a couple of poems during my circle time--one is for learning left and right and one is for counting
Thanks for all of the ideas! They were very helpful. Poems would be great to do during circle time, I love poetry and it is a fun way to get students involved with literacy and less intimidating.
I'm doing the nursery rhyme "One Two buckle My Shoe" to help them learn to count to ten and to recognize numbers 1-10 and I'm using "left hand left hand reach up high--right hand right hand touch the sky --- left foot left foot stomp the ground --right foot right foot-- stomp---sit down!
I do "good morning, good moring. how are you, how are you? very well, I thank you, very well I thank you How about you, how about you? and then I do it in Spanish after the English. Of course I can't think of the origninal song that it goes to.
Just thought of what seems to be the "universal" pre-k song, at least in Chicago. It goes. Hello, Hello Hello and how are you? I'm fine, I'm fine And I hope that you are too. (course no clue on the tune to tell you it goes to).
we dont do good morning song but good bye song is like this "weve got two little houses locked up tight(show both fists) open up the windows and turn on the lights(open hands and click) weve got 10 little children all in a row and they're all ready to go... (wave) goodbye NAME, goodbye NAME, goodbye NAME its time to say goodbye...do this goodbye NAME until all kids have been said.. thhey really like it because they get to use their hands
I sometimes do one that's a chant (because I can never remember tunes). Hi (or bye) said the fly. You toss in all those "see you later, alligator" type rhymes. Hello ones include Say hello, rainbow; What's up, buttercup; How are you, kangaroo...and Hi, said the fly. Goodbye ones include So long, King Kong; Out the door, dinosaur; Blow a kiss, jellyfish...and Bye, said the fly.
we always start our circle time with this one Open, shut them Open, shut them Give a little clap, clap, clap Open, shut them Open, shut them Put them in your lap Creep them, crawl them Creep them, crawl them Right up to your chin Open up your little mouth But do not put them in
Our Goodbye Song is: All day long we've worked and played, worked and played, worked and played. All day long we've worked and played, now our day is done. Wave goodbye to all your friends, all your friends, all your friends. Wave goodbye to all your friends, now our day is done. GOOOOOOOOOOODBYE! I think it's sung to "Mary Had a Little Lamb."
Mimi Bee LOVE the goodbye song!! =) I think that I will definitely use that one. I love all of the ideas!! I'd just have to think of some tunes. =)
We sing: Goodbye, so long, farewell my friends Goodbye, so long, farewell We'll see you soon again my friends, but for now, so long, farewell. You can also add individual names to that one if you have time by singing: Goodbye to name, and name, and name Goodbye to name, and name too (and so on) We'll see you soon again my friends, but for now so long, farewell. We also sing this if we are short on time: Goodbye boys, Goodbye Girls Goodbye everyone, we'll see you again real soon. There are more, but I can't remember them now...
That one helped me remember my co-ops!! Part of it anyway... Hers started with Goodbye, so long, alfeitersein (german for goodbye lol sorry I don't know how to spell it), good bye, la la la la la la la la la la la that's all I rememer I can't remember any more verses!!!
Our hello song is "Rise and Shine" by Dr. Jean - I like it because it repeats itself 3 or 4 times so it allows kids to clean up their morning work and join the group on the carpet. By the time the song is done everyone is in the circle and we begin our morning meeting. At this time we sing lots of different hello songs and we do many different greetings. At the end of the day when all of the kids are in line waiting to go to the buses we sing: "Goodbye good friends, it's time to go! Goodbye good friends, it's time to go We'll see you another day, HOORAY!"
Miss Erin- that sounds like the song in the Julie Andrew's movie version of Sound of Music when the children are going up to bed.
