Does anyone have some good educational technology websites to share with me?

I have found a few to share but I'm too new to link them as of yet. If you would want to check them out you will need to type them into a new browser window/tab.

    umajin.com
    akidemia.com
    classroom20wiki.com
    classroom20.com
    akidemia.wikispaces.com
    cogdogroo.wikispaces.com/StoryTools

There are many more that I refer to daily but I'm curious what else you may like/use/share with others. This list would be very valuable to every educator.

Thank you for sharing your BEST sites!!!

I'm really interested in incorporating more technology into my classroom. What are some things that you do?

If I think of more sites, I'll post them.

I co-author a site with our media specialist ... it highlights a variety of tech tools and their use in the classroom ... all of the tools are free.

What are some of the things you've done with previous classes?

Here are some of the things I've done:

    • Each day a student is assigned to blog about our day.
    • We attempted to play around with wikis....this year I'm going to stick to it all year.
    • At my old school, I had the capability to have my kids make their own webpage. At my new school I don't....so only I have the webpage.
    • We do PowerPoint autobiographies.
    • We have an LCD projector and I use it constantly for many things.

Here are things I would LIKE to do:

    • Clay Animation
    • Podcasting
    • Some type of global collaboration - perhaps co-writing stories with another class

    Katenar ...
If you are going to pursue podcasting, may I recommend GCast ... it is super easy to use. You have 2 options, call a toll free number to record. Or, use a mic and record in Audacity (another free download), save as an MP3 and upload. If you want to see it in action, go to my class website and click on the Podcasts page: http://readerswriters.edublogs.org The most recent episode is a test from me, scroll down to hear student episodes (click on green arrow).

    KU Alum -

Your edublog is wonderful!! I also do some podcasting and use a site called podbean. Accounts are free and it is quite easy to use. I have been introduced to a method for podcasting called the kburst. A kburst is a 60 second podcast meant to ignite curiosity in students and send them on a journey of discovery. It is short for Knowledge Bursts and it is quite popular in Higher Education. See kburst.podbean.com to see what they look and sound like.

One of the projects we did in class to incorporate technology was to divide up into groups and research different parts of Texas history. The students in each group created a script based upon their research. I assured them that if they did all that work I would allow them to make a movie. Each group came in costume on a different day for a week. I used my planning time to film each group individually. Using Movie Maker I edited the video and during the Texas Public Schools open house we aired our video and served popcorn.

Each parent took home a copy of the DVD that night. It was wonderful.

**I still watch that video from time to time!

The KBursts sound awesome!! Especially since I have Audacity and the capability of uploading. Some of you do, also, and seeing I'm starting the journalism community, I think this will be fun for the kids to come up with.

I also love edublogs (because it's free and includes page uploads within the blog) as well as ReadWriteThink for the kids to use.
