    Hi Everyone,

What affordable gifts have you bought/made this year?

I make a lot of gifts--jam, cookies, candy.
I am making a pillow for my granddaughter, and my grandson says he wants one as well.

I have bakeware for my daughters, and I will fill them with baked goods before giving them to them.

Do you have a Safeway near you? They are giving Kohls cash for shopping there. I plan to finish up my Christmas shopping with that money. I am almost done with my shopping, as I have been bargain hunting all summer. I start on next Christmas the day after this Christmas. I shop the clearance racks. My 18 year old grandson will get about ten nice shirts that I got for $1.50 to $3.00. I bought lovely sets of glassware for my daughters for $3.00 each.

Sometimes I bake yeast sweet bread a few days before Christmas, because everyone loves it, and almost no one does it anymore.

My parents used to buy boxes of oranges for some of the families they knew.

I sometimes use theme ideas--like pjs or sweatshirts for everyone.

I bought some pashima scarves for my brother's girlfriend in NYC. I have about 15, so I started her collection off with 3. They were $5 each. ;)

I got the teachers fleece throws at the much-hated Walmart for $7.50.

I did well at verabradley.com with the sale items.

    Apple.com has refurbished IPODs.

I have made the tie-blankets with 2 pieces of fleece before. Everyone really like them since I bought felt matching their likes (my dad got a UofM blanket, my neice got a Dora blanket, my nephew got Power Rangers, etc...)

I made several different kinds of fudge last year, and gave tins of it to a lot of people. I use Carnation's recipe--it's super easy and almost impossible to mess up! It never comes out grainy, like a lot of other kinds do. Plus, it doesn't use marshmallow fluff--that stuff creeps me out!

I found some Kipling little zip bags at dillards on sale. They were originally $22 each and I got them on sale for $2.99 each. I got a total of 6 and I'm going to put lip gloss in them and give them to my nieces for Christmas. It's perfect for keeping in a purse for little things.

I don't really make anything as a gift, but at the dept stores, if I see brooches or something like that on sale, I may get 2 or 3 of them.

Thanks, cassie! I noticed today that Wal-Mart is running online only specials. They had some good deals on digital camera packages.
