An 8th grade student at my school passed away last Thursday from a severe allergic reaction to something he ate and the funeral is today. Please say a prayer for his family and to the 8th grade class. We are a small charter school of around 250 and the 8th grade class is small so they are close. I'm not looking forward to this.
The loss of a child's life is always tragic. I'm so sorry for everyone invovled. Prayers are your way.
My thoughts and prayers are with you! Especially being a peanut/tree nut allergic person with a teenage son who has the same allergies.
oh honey, i'm so sorry to hear that. i attended a small, close knit private school for three years, and it was so hard when my friend died of cancer a few days shy of her 15th birthday. not to sound cynical, but part of what was the most difficult to me, is that when my friend was alive, A LOT of people used to tease her or ignore her. then, when she died, they're all sobbing their eyes out and acting like they didn't treat her badly when she was living. hopefully that's not the case with this student.
I'm glad yesterday is behind me now. The funeral was one of the saddest I've ever been to and it was especially hard seeing our students grieving. Ryan's dad had custody of him and developed a very close relationship with him so seeing his dad fall apart at the casket was heart wrenching!!! Ryan was a great kid and was loved by MANY. Thank you to all of you for your prayers and kind words. They meant a lot.
Ryan was at work and was eating lunch when he ate something he forgot he was allergic to. He called his dad right away and he was taken to the hospital. On the way there he told his dad that he felt like he was dying! His lung collapsed and he went into a coma and died through the night. He was also asthmatic and was in the office on a daily basis at school for his inhaler. He passed away last Thursday, June 25th.
