that would be awesome if I could because I would love it! Plus it would make my older son super jealous. He really wanted to go when he was younger.

I applied. I found the application limiting...,I didn't like the survey attached following the survey...wondering if answers to political questions weigh into chances of being chosen.

    Limiting? What do you mean?

I don't remember much about the application process, except that they used survey monkey to do it, and I talked a lot about how poor and isolated my students were. I think that helped me. :) I don't remember any "political" questions...

I felt that 100-200 words was limiting.

There was a political survey attached to the application....

Really! Hm, I didn't remember that. Must be new.

I did remember the word limit. They receive thousands of apps, they have to limit it somehow.

I don't remember a political survey either. I write a lot of grants, so I guess the word limit didn't really strike me as an issue. It just forces you to be clear and concise with your answer. I got in my first try. I assumed they took everyone. It wasn't until I got there that I found out how competitive it really was.

I was the same Christy. First time. I do think your location makes a difference. For example, they have a ton of teachers from Maryland, so it's more competitive there. Not many applicants from my state so it's a little easier.

I know when I went there were about 10,000 applications, and around 250 or so were chosen over the course of the summer.

The Science teacher on my team last year said she tries to go as often as possible and SHE LOVES IT. I mean L.O.V.E. She would sing their praises to whomever would listen. So, I recommend it to all science teachers who qualify.

I am going to apply even though I teach kinder. I am certified to teach up to 4th grade science so what the heck. The worst they can tell me is NO! I would have a heart attack if I get to go!

I don't know if they limit who can go at all, but I noticed one of the limitations for the scholarship was "Must be a current and practicing educator that is teaching science or math to students ages 10-14 years old and will continue to teach these subjects areas through 2014"
