Okay, so one of my best friends is a guy I've known for many years. We've never done too much gift-giving in the past--sometimes we'll pay for a movie or dinner here and there, but it's never been something wrapped and presented! So, I'm talking to him last night and he mentions that he got me a present and he hopes I like it. Crud! I need gift ideas ASAP! While I'm not a big fan of getting a gift JUST to get a gift, I don't want to give him NOTHING! The hardest part is, I have NO IDEA what he got me, so I have no idea of what price range to get to reciprocate. I wouldn't think anything too extravagant since he just graduated and got his first job. Who knows? :help:
TeacherNY: LOVE the Santa picture with your pug! I wish mine would do that, she'd squirm all over the place though! hehe. Iowa Teacher: Hmmmm...also think of things he likes to do in his free time. Maybe you could buy him a book, and movie tickets? Or something like that.
Is he a handyman type? Tools. He like to read? Books. A magazine subscription to an appropriate professional journal. Into Sports? Fav team apparel. New wallet. Gardener? Plant seeds. Single? A girlfriend.
It all depends on what he likes. You could always go with the standard gift card. A lot of guys like those Hickory Farms packages with the meat, cheese, crackers, etc. My mom just got my fiance a heated mug for the car that plugs in. Anything for the car would be good. Thinkgeek.com is a great website for those guys who like gadgets. I sound like a commercial. Haha. Hope that helps.
I'd go with a gift card to the movies or a magazine subscription like someone mentioned before. Hey, let us know what he gets you!
what about tickets to a sporting event or if he is into it a play or musical production? There is nothing my brother likes more than tickets to see the Red Sox or Celtics! He would even take tickets to any baseball game minor league, whatever, he loves baseball.
Have you bought from them online- like with your credit card? Is it a reputable site? I never heard of them before. Just wondering if you ever bought online from them. They have some cool stuff. I might get my dad something from there.
Thanks for all of the good ideas! He's in accounting (I honestly don't understand half the stuff he says, so I can't really tell you what he does) He's extremely picky with clothes so I can't do that. We go out to eat whenever we're together, so I just went standard and got a gift card from our favorite restaurant. PLUS maybe he'll use it to pay for MY meal as well Double Whammy there.
I got a great idea from my cousin for my father-in-law. He refs football so we got him an under armor (well, Champion - Target brand). I thought it might help some of you out! If they're outside it might work as a gift.
OK, so maybe this is just me thinking strange thoughts...but are you both single? If you've never gotten each other gifts before, and he's all of a sudden getting you a gift, is he thinking of maybe, um, upping your relationship? Just something to think about...stranger things have happened!

I am getting my brother a hoodie sweatshirt. He wears the one he has all the time and it's getting ratty.
Lol, kc! We ARE both single, but, no, he's not upping the relationship---We've been friends for forever and that's all we'll ever be We've done gifts for birthdays before, but we don't usually do Christmas. Last year for my birthday he got me a dozen roses, which might sound weird unless you know him. Blue--something shiny in a small box is definitely off the table I'll let you guys know he got me in a couple of weeks--I seriously don't know
