I got rid of mine because I just used it as a catch all for junk. Also, my room is small and I really needed the extra space. I am trying to think of creative and helpful ways to store things. For those who have gotten rid of their desk how do you store your things. Pics would be appreciated too.

I am not getting rid of my yet...I am thinking of placing up against a wall and having it open, so after school I can sit and write, etc... and during the day I can just ignore it...
Ok, I saw this once were the teacher had like a drafting table-ish "desk" with storage under....

I think I am going to push mine against the wall and use the majority of the top for storage.

I had mine against the wall for the past 2 years. I really liked it because it opened up the room nicely for times when I had 8 grade 8 boys in my tiny room! I have the rainbow drawers as well; they are perfect for organizing the supplies kids need access to--paper, pencils, rulers, etc. I admire those who can get rid of their desks; I have so much paperwork in my job that I need a place to keep it all organized.

I use 2 rolling carts that I got at goodwill last year for under 5.00 each. They were brand new from Target :) They hold all the things my desk used to, and I use a kidney table as my teacher desk.

We have a teacher computer that the kids aren't allowed to use because we take attendance, check e-mail, and keep grades on it, so we have to keep some kind of desk. It definitely attracts loose papers, though!

I have the seven drawer storage cart from wal-mart plus two 3 drawer carts. i don't put the wheels on them so that they will be sturdier.

I have to have a place for my laptop during the day since I use it for most of my lessons in S.S.--I plan to get rid of my teacher desk too. I think I need to find someplace sturdy for my laptop though.

I'd rather have a closet with a lock because I had to watch my desk like a hawk. I had too many sticky fingers last year!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get rid of mine as well, but it is a very nice desk in my area and it would be quickly snatched up. SO I would not have a chance to change my mind if I wanted to.

I had mine against the wall too, but it still took up too much space. My room is pretty small compared to many of yours. I keep my computer, scanner, and printer on a very small table.

I know how you feel and you don't want to put a stigma on the next group of kids, but it is hard when you know that budget is limited.
