Ok, I teach at a prep school and we teach geography as a stand alone subject. I am teaching 8th grade again this year and need to find something to use to teach geography. I used what the school ordered last year which was Maps, Globes and Graphs by Steck-Vaughn. That was very young for 8th grade and only covered map skills. There is no budget for new curriculum this year so I am on my own for figuring out what to use. I talked to admin today and asked if I had to keep geography as only U.S. Geography or could I possibly do an over all US/World geography. The students do get World Geo in 7th grade. So what do you use? To you teach it outside of History/Social Studies? :thanks:
Hi, As further resources, you might want to look at "Owl and Mouse" free maps and map puzzles. Margot
sheppardsoftware.com is what my students used to study outside of class. We don't have a geography class, so based on what we were studying in SS the students would have to learn where the countries or states are.
